TL;DR: The demonstrated stability of mycolic acids show that they may be of value in tracing the palaeoepidemiology of tuberculosis back into antiquity, and seem more reliable for ancient TB diagnosis than IS6110.

TL;DR: The research approach and its iterative stages are described, and its use within a large engineering firm (Engco) produced useful insights for the organisation, as well as pointers for further modification of the research approach.

TL;DR: Visual spatial shifts of attention were investigated in patients suffering from Parkinsons disease and control subjects and revealed that although the cueing effect was similar for patients and controls, the effect of valid cueing was greater in patients.
Abstract: Visual spatial shifts of attention were investigated in 13 patients suffering from Parkinson's disease and 20 control subjects. Attention was directed towards a target location with peripheral or central cues at varying SOAs in two separate experiments. A benefit and cost analysis was conducted on reaction times. The results of the central cueing task showed that in comparison with control subjects, costs of invalid cueing were reduced in patients. Results of the peripheral cueing task revealed that although the cueing effect (valid-invalid) was similar for patients and controls, the effect of valid cueing (neutral-valid) was greater in patients. The effects observed in both tasks were explained as an impaired ability of patients with Parkinson's disease to maintain attention.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the data gathered through a self-completion questionnaire administered to a sample of headteachers in England who took up post in September, 2000.
Abstract: This paper reports on the data gathered through a self-completion questionnaire administered to a sample of headteachers in England who took up post in September, 2000. The survey is part of a larger, international study (The International Beginning Principals Study – IBPS) which aims to investigate and report on the experiences of beginning headteachers and principals during their first two years in post. Research teams are undertaking parallel studies in other countries, including Belgium, Canada, Netherlands and USA. Four research questions underpin the design of questionnaires used in all countries, thus allowing for data to be compared across the countries whilst allowing each questionnaire to reflect cultural, structural and linguistic differences between school systems. The four basic research questions are: 1. How does the process of professional development evolve, what are the main determinants and can we distinguish different patterns? 2. To what extent is it possible for a headteacher – given some external constraints – to develop autonomously a local policy? 3. How (and to what degree) can a beginning headteacher influence the existing school (daily organisation; structures; culture) and the development of individual teachers? 4. What encourages and discourages people from aspiring to headship?

TL;DR: In this paper, a modelo bioeconomico is used to define limites of pastoreo, acordes with the sustentabilidad of the encina a largo plazo.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the interests of the seed/chemical multinational companies, trade and investment for the countries in which these companies operate and the innovation of science and technology, and assess the regulations of the European community in order to find what protection is available.
Abstract: Seeks to answer the question “whose interests are being served by the laws of purporting to regulate genetically modified organisms?“ Considers the interests of the seed/chemical multinational companies, trade and investment for the countries in which these companies operate and the innovation of science and technology. Covers the European interests with regards to the single internal market and the conflict this can cause between economic and environmental/health interests. Looks at the issues from the US perspective and world trade. Continues by covering nature and the environment followed by health and safety and the rights of consumers. Assesses the regulations of the European community in order to find what protection is available.

TL;DR: The authors argue that most of these Utopian futures can be interpreted as representing the triumph of alienation and, hence, as anti-Utopian, and propose an alternative approach to conceptualizing the material stuff of Utopia, one in which the full re-appropriation of the body is given a more central role.
Abstract: To a large extent the history of Utopia has been intimately bound up with the city. Representations of Utopian futures have often been rendered as visions of ideal urban living. Moreover, a technologically driven cornucopia of material abundance has become a recurrent feature such that it is almost shorthand itself for Utopia. This paper will engage with the material culture of such Utopian representations - the buildings, the practical hardware of everyday life, the status of manual and mental labour, etc. It is the contention of this paper that most of these Utopian futures can be interpreted as representing the triumph of alienation and, hence, as anti-Utopian. The human body is ‘disappropriated’, abandoned to the sensory un-engaging qualities of Utopian material culture. An alternative approach to conceptualising the material stuff of Utopia will be advanced, one in which the full re-appropriation of the body is given a more central role.
