TL;DR: In this article, the neutral Higgs bosons predicted by the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) were searched for in the τ τ final state.
Abstract: A search for the neutral Higgs bosons predicted by the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is reported. The analysis is performed on data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The samples used for this search were collected in 2012 and correspond to integrated luminosities in the range 19.5-20.3 fb−1. The MSSM Higgs bosons are searched for in the τ τ final state. No significant excess over the expected background is observed, and exclusion limits are derived for the production cross section times branching fraction of a scalar particle as a function of its mass. The results are also interpreted in the MSSM parameter space for various benchmark scenarios.

TL;DR: The project demonstrates the feasibility of a Europe-wide human biomonitoring framework to support the decision-making process of environmental measures to protect public health and takes the first steps to assess personal chemical exposures in Europe as a whole.
Abstract: BackgroundFor Europe as a whole, data on internal exposure to environmental chemicals do not yet exist. Characterization of the internal individual chemical environment is expected to enhance under...

TL;DR: In this paper, a new end point -intervention with respect to the causes of coastal erosion is added to conventional coastal management practices, which necessitates further management action, such as hard/soft protection measures (hold/advance the line), accommodation, managed retreat and sacrifice.

TL;DR: This review presents an overview of antimicrobial hydrogels that have recently been developed and when possible provide a discussion relevant to their mechanism of action.
Abstract: The increasing prevalence of microbial infections, especially those associated with impaired wound healing and biomedical implant failure has spurred the development of new materials having antimicrobial activity. Hydrogels are a class of highly hydrated material finding use in diverse medical applications such as drug delivery, tissue engineering, as wound fillers, and as implant coatings, to name a few. The biocompatible nature of many gels make them a convenient starting platform to develop selectively active antimicrobial materials. Hydrogels with antimicrobial properties can be obtained through the encapsulation or covalent immobilization of known antimicrobial agents, or the material itself can be designed to possess inherent antimicrobial activity. In this review we present an overview of antimicrobial hydrogels that have recently been developed and when possible provide a discussion relevant to their mechanism of action. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
