TL;DR: Consistent associations with adherence were found for psychosocial factors, with the strongest evidence for the impact of the healthcare professional–patient relationship, perceptions of treatment concerns and depression, lower treatment self-efficacy and necessity beliefs, and practical barriers to treatment.
Abstract: Background Non-adherence impacts negatively on patient health outcomes and has associated economic costs. Understanding drivers of treatment adherence in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases is key for the development of effective strategies to tackle non-adherence.

TL;DR: Simulation permits to clearly distinguish between calcite and aragonite in the cases of powder spectra, and among different polarization directions of each compound in the case of single crystal spectra.
Abstract: Powder and single crystal Raman spectra of the two most common phases of calcium carbonate are calculated with ab initio techniques (using a “hybrid” functional and a Gaussian-type basis set) and measured both at 80 K and room temperature. Frequencies of the Raman modes are in very good agreement between calculations and experiments: the mean absolute deviation at 80 K is 4 and 8 cm−1 for calcite and aragonite, respectively. As regards intensities, the agreement is in general good, although the computed values overestimate the measured ones in many cases. The combined analysis permits to identify almost all the fundamental experimental Raman peaks of the two compounds, with the exception of either modes with zero computed intensity or modes overlapping with more intense peaks. Additional peaks have been identified in both calcite and aragonite, which have been assigned to 18O satellite modes or overtones. The agreement between the computed and measured spectra is quite satisfactory; in particular, simulat...

TL;DR: The viscoelastic properties investigated by small-amplitude oscillatory shear rheology demonstrated improvement of mechanical stability after chitosan addition and the liposomal dispersion stability was improved.
Abstract: Despite various spectacular therapeutic properties, curcumin has low bioavailability mainly due to its poor solubility in water. In this paper, we encapsulated curcumin by nanoliposomes prepared from salmon purified phospholipid and coated with chitosan. Various techniques were used in order to study the interactions among phospholipid, chitosan and curcumin. FTIR results showed both electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions as well as hydrogen bonding between chitosan and phospholipid, while hydrophobic forces and hydrogen bonding dominated the interactions between curcumin and phospholipid as well as between curcumin and chitosan. Shear viscosity measurements demonstrated a flow behavior change from Newtonian to shear thinning after liposome coating. The increase/decrease stress ramp showed that the addition of chitosan layer decreased significantly the hysteresis loop area (thixotropic behavior) and therefore increased significantly the liposomal dispersion stability. The viscoelastic properties investigated by small-amplitude oscillatory shear rheology demonstrated improvement of mechanical stability after chitosan addition. Small-angle X-ray scattering experiments revealed that the liposome membrane structure was not affected by the chitosan layer or the encapsulated curcumin.

TL;DR: In this article, a homoleptic iron complex bearing tridentate bis-carbene (CNC) ligands was designed for sensitization of TiO2 photoanodes.
Abstract: Herein, we report a homoleptic iron complex bearing tridentate bis-carbene (CNC) ligands designed for sensitization of TiO2 photoanodes. Its excited state has been characterized by ultra-fast transient spectroscopy and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) computations, which reveal a record triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer ((MLCT)-M-3) excited-state lifetime (16 ps). The new dye was efficiently chemisorbed on TiO2 and promoted electron injection and photocurrent generation in a dye-sensitized solar cell upon solar irradiation.
