TL;DR: In this paper, the authors extend the two-stage approach by allowing the probability weighting function to depend on the type of uncertainty, and derive relations between decision weights, probability judgments and probability Weighting under uncertainty.
Abstract: Decision weights are an important component in recent theories for decision making under uncertainty. To better explain these decision weights, a two stage approach has been proposed: first, the probability of an event is judged and then this probability is transformed by the probability weighting function known from decision making under risk. We extend the two stage approach by allowing the probability weighting function to depend on the type of uncertainty. Using this more general approach, certain properties of decision weights can be attributed to certain properties of probability judgments and/or to certain properties of probability weighting. After deriving these relations between decision weights, probability judgments and probability weighting under uncertainty, we present an empirical study which shows that it is indeed neccessary to allow the probability weighting function to be source dependent. The analysis includes an examination of properties of the probability weighting function under uncertainty which have not been considered yet.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss how and to what extent practitioners use the scientific results of management studies and how they apply them to their daily work. But, they do not discuss how they use them in practice.
Abstract: How and to what extent practitioners use the scientific results of management studies is of great concern to management scholars and has given rise to a considerable body of literature. In this pap...

TL;DR: In this article, a light-touch integration approach is proposed to synthesize the preservation and symbiosis integration approaches due to the contextual characteristics of Chinese cross-border M&A, such as cultural influences and the learning perspective.
Abstract: As a major entry mode of global strategy of Chinese MNCs, Chinese cross-border merger and acquisition (M&A) is still a less understood phenomenon, in particular the post acquisition phase. This study contributes to this rising, important and interesting phenomenon utilizing an explorative research method. By integrating synergy potential, culture influences and the learning perspective, we suggest a multilevel perspective in understanding Chinese cross-border M&A. A novel post acquisition integration approach, namely light-touch integration, is investigated, and supported by newly assembled empirical evidence in the context of Chinese M&A in Germany. Light-touch integration essentially synthesizes the preservation and symbiosis integration approaches due to the contextual characteristics of Chinese cross-border M&A, such as cultural influences and the learning perspective. Understanding the cultural and learning influences can facilitate and smooth the activities involved in the post acquisition phase. The light-touch integration approach offers ample opportunities for joint collaborations between and mutual benefits for acquiring firms, acquired targets and third party organizations. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine the diffusion of market orientation as a social learning process to acquire and transfer individual-level market orientation and identify the important work-group members or envoys.
Abstract: This study examines the diffusion of market orientation as a social learning process to acquire and transfer individual-level market orientation. Central to the diffusion are important work-group members, or envoys. Through their market-oriented action, top managers serve as market-oriented role models to two important types of observers in work groups — formal middle managers and work-group expert peers. These observers in turn become top managers’ envoys to role-model market oriented behavior to frontline employees. Empirical results from a three-level data set from a Fortune 500 company support this perspective. While envoys that are neither market oriented nor identified with the firm are the worst, envoys that are not market oriented but are strongly identified with the firm are also detrimental. Network size hinders the informal route of learning through expert peers but not the formal route through middle managers. By identifying whom the important work-group envoys are and under what conditions certain envoys are likely to be most effective, this study helps managers select the most effective envoys to implement market orientation.

TL;DR: It is shown that LMS tumors are characterized by substantial mutational heterogeneity, near-universal inactivation of TP53 and RB1, widespread DNA copy number alterations including chromothripsis, and frequent whole-genome duplication, and recurrent alterations in telomere maintenance genes.
Abstract: Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is an aggressive mesenchymal malignancy with few therapeutic options. The mechanisms underlying LMS development, including clinically actionable genetic vulnerabilities, are largely unknown. Here we show, using whole-exome and transcriptome sequencing, that LMS tumors are characterized by substantial mutational heterogeneity, near-universal inactivation of TP53 and RB1, widespread DNA copy number alterations including chromothripsis, and frequent whole-genome duplication. Furthermore, we detect alternative telomere lengthening in 78% of cases and identify recurrent alterations in telomere maintenance genes such as ATRX, RBL2, and SP100, providing insight into the genetic basis of this mechanism. Finally, most tumors display hallmarks of "BRCAness", including alterations in homologous recombination DNA repair genes, multiple structural rearrangements, and enrichment of specific mutational signatures, and cultured LMS cells are sensitive towards olaparib and cisplatin. This comprehensive study of LMS genomics has uncovered key biological features that may inform future experimental research and enable the design of novel therapies.
