TL;DR: In this paper, a diary study examines how employees thrive at work in response to resources (i.e., positive meaning, relational resources, and knowledge). Thriving is conceptualized as the joint experience of vitality and learning.
Abstract: Summary The present diary study examines how employees thrive at work in response to resources (i.e., positive meaning, relational resources, and knowledge). Thriving is conceptualized as the joint experience of vitality and learning. A total of 121 employees working in the social services sector responded to three daily surveys (in the morning, at lunchtime, and at the end of the work day) for a period of ! ve work days. Intra-individual analyses (hierarchical linear modeling) revealed that on days when employees experience positive meaning at work in the morning, they feel more vital at the end of the work day and have a higher sense of learning. Work behaviors such as task focus and exploration mediated the relation between positive meaning and both components of thriving. Copyright # 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the importance of social networks and social media as the tools, and develop a clear strategy of how they could enhance customers' experience and perceptions of their brands.
Abstract: Social networks, and social media as the tools, are everywhere in the marketer’s world today. Their growing importance was quickly acknowledged and they were casted one of the top research priorities by the trustees of the Marketing Science Institute (MSI) in 2006. Brands, and in particular luxury brands with their high brand equity, ought to have a clear understanding of what social media could do for them, and develop a clear strategy of how they could enhance customers’ experience and perceptions of their brands. Social media are highly related with the concept of Web 2.0, which go back to O’Reilly (2005) who realized that the companies that had survived the dot-com bubble in 2001 seemed to have something in common. These shared principles and practices are the modern second era of the web that can be described as Web 2.0. Beyond the social classification of content by tagging (folksonomy), Web 2.0 pages allow and encourage the creation of user-generated content. This includes creating and sha...

TL;DR: Based on properties of typical vehicular networks, like the Controller Area Network (CAN), a set of anomaly detection sensors is introduced which allow the recognition of attacks during the operation of the vehicle without causing false positives.
Abstract: The complexity and connectivity of modern vehicles has constantly increased over the past years. Within the scope of this development the security risk for the in-vehicle network and its components has risen massively. Apart from threats for comfort and confidentiality, these attacks can also affect safety critical systems of the vehicle and therefore endanger the driver and other road users. In this paper the introduction of anomaly detection systems to the automotive in-vehicle network is discussed. Based on properties of typical vehicular networks, like the Controller Area Network (CAN), a set of anomaly detection sensors is introduced which allow the recognition of attacks during the operation of the vehicle without causing false positives. Moreover, important design and application criteria for a vehicular attack detection system are explained and discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a description of the crowdfunding sector, considering investment-based crowdfunding platforms as well as platforms in which funders do not obtain monetary payments, and explore the economic forces at play that can explain the design of these platforms.
Abstract: This paper provides a description of the crowdfunding sector, considering investment- based crowdfunding platforms as well as platforms in which funders do not obtain monetary payments. It lays out key features of this quickly developing sector and explores the economic forces at play that can explain the design of these platforms. In particular, it elaborates on cross-group and within-group external effects and asymmetric information on crowdfunding platforms.

TL;DR: The role of demographic factors, economic growth and labor market institutions in explaining young people's transition into work, as well as differences in the setup and functioning of the vocational education and training policies in major world regions, are assessed.
Abstract: This paper focuses on the determinants of the labor market situation of young people in developed countries and the developing world, with a particular emphasis on the role of vocational training and education policies. We highlight the role of demographic factors, economic growth and labor market institutions in explaining young people's transition into work. Subsequently, we assess differences between the setup and functioning of the vocational education and training policies across major world regions as an important driver of differential labor market situation of youth. Based on our analysis, we argue in favor of vocational education and training systems combining work experience and general education and provide some policy recommendations regarding the implementation of education and training systems adapted to a country's economic and institutional context.
