Abstract: The Wiener index W is the sum of distances between all pairs of vertices of a (connected) graph. Hexagonal systems (HS's) are a special type of plane graphs in which all faces are bounded by hexagons. These provide a graph representation of benzenoid hydrocarbons and thus find applications in chemistry. The paper outlines the results known for W of the HS: method for computation of W, expressions relating W with the structure of the respective HS, results on HS's extremal w.r.t. W, and on integers that cannot be the W-values of HS's. A few open problems are mentioned. The chemical applications of the results presented are explained in detail.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the B-->(D) over barD(sJ)(2317) and B-->(D) over barD(sJ)(2457) decays based on 123.8x10(6) B (B) over bar events collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. We observe the D-sJ(2317) decay to D(s)pi(0) and the D-sJ(2457) decay to the D(s)(*)pi(0) and D(s)gamma final states. We also set 90% C.L. upper limits for the decays D-sJ(2317)-->D-s*gamma, D-sJ(2457)-->D-s*gamma, D-sJ(2457)-->D(s)pi(0), and D-sJ(2457)-->D(s)pi(+)pi(-).

Abstract: We study the evolution of cooperation in public goods games on different regular graphs as a function of the noise level underlying strategy adoptions. We focus on the effects that are brought about by different group sizes of public goods games in which individuals participate, revealing that larger groups of players may induce qualitatively different behavior when approaching the deterministic limit of strategy adoption. While by pairwise interactions an intermediate uncertainty by strategy adoptions may ensure optimal conditions for the survival of cooperators at a specific graph topology, larger groups warrant this only in the vicinity of the deterministic limit independently from the underlying graph. These discrepancies are attributed to the indirect linkage of otherwise not directly connected players, which is brought about by joint memberships within the larger groups. Thus, we show that increasing the group size may introduce an effective transition of the interaction topology, and that the latter shapes the noise dependence of the evolution of cooperation in case of pairwise interactions only.

Abstract: Process Integration (PI) supporting Process Design, Integration, and Optimisation has been around from the early 1970s. PI was developed originally from Heat Integration, which remains the cornerstone for PI continuous advance. It has been closely related to the development of Chemical, Mechanical and Power Engineering supported by the extended implementation of mathematical modelling, simulation and optimisation, and by the application of information technology. Its development has accelerated over the years as its methodology has been able to provide answers and support for important issues regarding economic development — better utilisation and savings regarding energy, water, and other resources. This contribution is targeting towards providing at least a short overview of its historical development, achievements, and future challenges.
