TL;DR: To investigate the therapeutic benefit of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) over placebo in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux and to analyze the epidemiological factors of heterogeneity in the literature.
Abstract: Objectives To investigate the therapeutic benefit of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) over placebo in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and to analyze the epidemiological factors of heterogeneity in the literature. Methods An electronic literature search was conducted to identify articles published between 1990 and 2018 about clinical trials describing the efficiency of medical treatment(s) on LPR. First, a meta-analysis of placebo randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing PPIs versus placebo was conducted according to diet. The heterogeneity, response to PPIs, and evolution of clinical scores were analyzed for aggregate results. Second, a systematic review of diagnosis methods, clinical outcome of treatment, and therapeutic regimens was performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. Results The search identified 1,140 relevant publications, of which 72 studies met the inclusion criteria for a total of 5,781 patients. Ten RCTs were included in the meta-analysis. The combined relative risk was 1.31 in favor of PPIs and increased to 1.42 when patients did not receive diet recommendations. Randomized controlled trials were characterized by a significant heterogeneity due to discrepancies in clinical therapeutic outcomes, diagnosis methods (lack of gold standard diagnostic tools), and therapeutic scheme. The epidemiological analysis of all articles supports the existence of these discrepancies in the entire literature. In particular, many symptoms and signs commonly encountered in LPR are not assessed in the treatment effectiveness. The lack of diagnosis precision and variability of inclusion criteria particularly create bias in all reported and included articles. Conclusion This meta-analysis supports a mild superiority of PPIs over placebo and the importance of diet as additional treatment but demonstrates the heterogeneity between studies, limiting the elaboration of clear conclusions. International recommendations are proposed for the development of future trials. Laryngoscope, 129:1174-1187, 2019.

TL;DR: In this article, an upper bound of E-2 Phi(90%C.L.) < 7.4x10(-8) GeV cm(-2) s(-1) sr(-1).
Abstract: A search for TeV-PeV muon neutrinos from unresolved sources was performed on AMANDA-II data collected between 2000 and 2003 with an equivalent live time of 807 days. This diffuse analysis sought to find an extraterrestrial neutrino flux from sources with nonthermal components. The signal is expected to have a harder spectrum than the atmospheric muon and neutrino backgrounds. Since no excess of events was seen in the data over the expected background, an upper limit of E-2 Phi(90%C.L.)< 7.4x10(-8) GeV cm(-2) s(-1) sr(-1) is placed on the diffuse flux of muon neutrinos with a Phi proportional to E-2 spectrum in the energy range 16 TeV to 2.5 PeV. This is currently the most sensitive Phi proportional to E-2 diffuse astrophysical neutrino limit. We also set upper limits for astrophysical and prompt neutrino models, all of which have spectra different from Phi proportional to E-2.

TL;DR: In this article, a search for a heavy scalar boson H decaying into a pair of lighter standard-model-like 125 GeV Higgs bosons h and an h boson decaying into an H boson was performed on a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns of pp collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV.

TL;DR: The results showed that the microporous hydrophilic Al-dicarboxylate MIL-160(Al) exhibited one of the best performances, and has a very high energy-storage capacity for a physical-sorption material (343 Wh kg-1 ), which is in full agreement with the predicted value.
Abstract: The energy storage capacities of a series of water-stable porous MOFs, based on high valence metal cations (Al3+, Fe3+, Cr3+, Ti4+, Zr4+) and polycarboxylate linkers, have been evaluated in the typical conditions of seasonal energy storage devices. It turned out that the microporous hydrophilic Al-dicarboxylate MIL-160(Al) exhibits one of the best performance. To assess the properties of this material for space heating applications and on a laboratory pilot scale with an open reactor, a novel synthetic route involving safer, greener conditions was developed. This leads to MIL-160(Al) being produced on a 400 g scale and then shaped into pellets through a wet granulation method. This material exhibits a very high energy storage capacity for a physical sorption material (343 Wh/kg), which is in full agreement with the predicted value.

TL;DR: The available atomic data used for interpreting and modeling x-ray observations can be divided into several levels of detail, ranging from compilations which can be used with direct inspection of raw data, such as line finding lists, to synthetic spectra which attempt to fit to an entire observed dataset simultaneously as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The available atomic data used for interpreting and modeling x-ray observations are reviewed The applications for these data can be divided into several levels of detail, ranging from compilations which can be used with direct inspection of raw data, such as line finding lists, to synthetic spectra which attempt to fit to an entire observed dataset simultaneously This review covers cosmic sources driven by both electron ionization and photoionization and touches briefly on planetary surfaces and atmospheres The applications to x-ray astronomy, the available data, and recommendations for astronomical users are all reviewed, and an attempt to point out the applications where the shortcomings are greatest is also given
