TL;DR: In this article, the authors stress the importance of three dominant and remarkably constant tectonic features in the Himalayan chain: a huge overthrust is seen everywhere to entail a visible throw of more than 100 km, a shallow dipping cleavage develops over an observable thickness in excess of 15 km, and in the underthrusting slab the stretching lineation keeps a similar direction constantly perpendicular to the local trend of the chain.

TL;DR: Although these anti-estrogens are capable to translocate the estrogen receptor to the nucleus and to induce the replenishment of the cytosol receptor, the mechanism of their antagonism and of their weak estrogenic activity is still not clear.

TL;DR: Zygopolaris, a new genus of Trichomycetes growing in the hindgut of mayfly nymphs in flowing streams, has been found in several different areas in western United States, thus indicating that it may be widespread.
Abstract: SUMMARY A new monotypic genus of the fungal order Harpellales (Genistellaceae) has been found in three localities in the United States inhabitating the guts of mayfly nymphs, Ephemerella and Baetis. Mature sporulating thalli of Zygopolaris ephemeridarum may be found protruding from the the anus of the host into the aquatic environment. Released trichospores do not appear to have basal appendages, as do most other Harpellales, but evidence of rudimentary appendage formation has been found in the generative cells. Zygospores are attached at one pole, and resemble those of Carouxella (Harpellaceae). The similarities of the two genera and two families are discussed, as well as the four types of zygospores recognized in the Harpellales. Zygopolaris, a new genus of Trichomycetes growing in the hindgut of mayfly nymphs in flowing streams, has been found in several different areas in western United States, thus indicating that it may be widespread. The genus is monotypic, like the majority of Harpellales genera (Manier and Lichtwardt, 1968; Lichtwardt, 1972). Its distinctive characteristics are attachment of zygospores at one pole, the lack of welldefined trichospore appendages, and projection of thalli from the host anus. All attempts to culture the species, Zygopolaris ephemeridarum, were unsuccessful, and all observations were made from material dissected from the living hosts. The majority of measurements and photographs were taken from distilled water mounts prior to their infiltration with lactophenol containing cotton blue.

TL;DR: The ultrastructural characteristics of the interrenal cell were investigated in the quail and the pigeon after fixation by intravascular addominal perfusion and there is no significant fine structural difference between cells belonging to subcapsular and central regions of the gland.
Abstract: The ultrastructural characteristics of the interrenal cell were investigated in the quail and the pigeon after fixation by intravascular addominal perfusion. These is no significant fine structural difference between cells belonging to subcapsular and central regions of the gland. The interrenal cell in both species possesses nuclear bodies, polymorphic mitochondria with tubulo-vesicular cristae and tubular crystalline inclusions, considerable amounts of endoplasmic reticulum, ergastoplasm, a well developed Golgi apparatus, coated vesicles, microtubules, filaments, cilia, ribosomes, a profusion of liposomes, dense bodies with varied inner structure, pinocytic invaginations of cell membrane and intercellular attachment devices. The pigoen adrenocortical cell also possesses intranuclear lipidlike inclusions and fibrous bundle (this being never recorded in adrenocortical cell), annulate lamellae, and a variety of cytosomes, probably lipofucsin in nature. The significance and cytophysiological role of various organelles and inclusions have been discussed in the light of earlier data obtained on avian adrenocortical cells.

TL;DR: In this paper, a structural study of cyclohexanones with polar substituants in the γ position has been performed, showing that the axial conformation is dominant due to syn diaxial attractive interactions.

TL;DR: Functional zonation of the interrenal tissue was investigated in pigeon and quail chronically exposed to corticosteroid treatment and salt loading and found that the lowered hormonal titre in salt-loaded birds, in view of the accompanying cellular hyperactivity, signifies increased peripheral utilisation of corticosterone.

TL;DR: The present study was devoted to recording of spontaneous and flash‐evoked multiple unit discharges in the gonadotropic areas of the quail hypothalamus to investigate the influence of the length of the day and of bilateral optic nerve section.
Abstract: The present study was devoted to recording of spontaneous and flash-evoked multiple unit discharges in the gonadotropic areas of the quail hypothalamus and to investigate the influence of the length of the day and of bilateral optic nerve section. Blinding resulted in a marked decrease of MUA in the tuberal region which was much less important in the dorsal part of the nuclear infundibular complex. Burst and continuous patterns of discharges subsisted in tuberal and dorsal areas of blinded quail but responses to flash were completely suppressed. Lengthening the photofraction led to a very strong reduction of firing rates in both tuberal and dorsal hypothalamic regions. Furthermore, flash stimulation was no longer effective in intact photostimulated quail (18L-6D). Flash-evoked modification of MUA in gonadotropic regions were differentiated in a clear-cut fashion from specific responses which were obtained in the visual system.

TL;DR: In this article, the notion de fonction anti-permutable was introduced, i.e., a set of fermetures anti-probabilite, which permit a fonctions symetriques, paires, etc.
