TL;DR: In this paper, a content analysis of the Web sites of the Fortune 100 companies was carried out to identify the mix of promotional activities on their Web sites, and they found considerable variability in how members of the top 100 companies used their web sites.
Abstract: Discusses the results of content analysis of the Web sites of Fortune 100 companies, carried out to identify the mix of promotional activities on their Web sites. Specifically, we performed a content analysis of Web sites utilizing categories representing a range of marketing communications, including: communicating product, pricing and dealer/retail location information, related and unrelated advertisements, sales promotion, direct marketing, basic company information and public relations. We also identified differences between and among industries based on standard industrial classification (SIC) codes. We found considerable variability in how members of the Fortune 100 used their Web sites. The Web sites ranged from very simple ones that focused on basic company information, such as company history, to quite complex Web sites that incorporated a mix of promotional elements, such as press releases, advertisements, games, free gifts and pricing information.

TL;DR: The multimodal framework is an end-to-end deep network which can learn better complementary features from the image and non-image modalities and automatically gives the final diagnosis for cervical dysplasia with 87.83 % sensitivity at 90 % specificity on a large dataset.
Abstract: To improve the diagnostic accuracy of cervical dysplasia, it is important to fuse multimodal information collected during a patient’s screening visit. However, current multimodal frameworks suffer from low sensitivity at high specificity levels, due to their limitations in learning correlations among highly heterogeneous modalities. In this paper, we design a deep learning framework for cervical dysplasia diagnosis by leveraging multimodal information. We first employ the convolutional neural network (CNN) to convert the low-level image data into a feature vector fusible with other non-image modalities. We then jointly learn the non-linear correlations among all modalities in a deep neural network. Our multimodal framework is an end-to-end deep network which can learn better complementary features from the image and non-image modalities. It automatically gives the final diagnosis for cervical dysplasia with 87.83 % sensitivity at 90 % specificity on a large dataset, which significantly outperforms methods using any single source of information alone and previous multimodal frameworks.

TL;DR: A constrained quantile regression averaging (CQRA) method to create an improved ensemble from several individual probabilistic forecasts, which can reduce the pinball score by 4.39% and demonstrates superior performance over nine other benchmark ensembles.
Abstract: Probabilistic load forecasts provide comprehensive information about future load uncertainties. In recent years, many methodologies and techniques have been proposed for probabilistic load forecasting. Forecast combination, a widely recognized best practice in point forecasting literature, has never been formally adopted to combine probabilistic load forecasts. This paper proposes a constrained quantile regression averaging (CQRA) method to create an improved ensemble from several individual probabilistic forecasts. We formulate the CQRA parameter estimation problem as a linear program with the objective of minimizing the pinball loss and the constraints that the parameters are nonnegative and summing up to one. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method using two publicly available datasets, the ISO New England data and Irish smart meter data. Comparing with the best individual probabilistic forecast, the ensemble can reduce the pinball score by 4.39% on average. The proposed ensemble also demonstrates superior performance over nine other benchmark ensembles.
