Abstract: Mesoporous TiO2 supported Cu, Co, Ni, Pd, Sn and Zn catalysts (M-TiO2) were synthesized using facile one-step synthesis method and were characterized using BET, XRD, TGA-DSC, TEM, SEM-EDX, ICP-OES, and H2-TPR studies The catalysts were further tested for steam reforming of methanol (SRM) to investigate their comparative catalytic performance Depending on the nature of the metal component, the catalysts exhibited surface area, pore sizes, and TiO2 crystallite sizes in the range of 99–309 m2/g, 263–469 nm and 68–172 nm, respectively N2-physorption, TGA-DSC and XRD analysis demonstrated that the presence of metal in the TiO2 matrix stabilized the mesoporous structure by hindering the crystal growth during heat treatment and thereby preventing the collapse of porous structure Furthermore, the characterization of 5–20% Zn-TiO2 catalysts indicated that there exist an optimum Zn loading to obtain highest surface area which was found to be 15% in the present study giving a high surface area of ∼258 m2/g This was consistent with the SRM studies where the activity increased up to 15% and then decreased significantly with further increase in Zn loading to 20% The results of the SRM studies coupled with extensive TPR analysis of different M-TiO2 catalysts suggest that the specific metal-support interactions play a crucial role in controlling its performance on H2 production The SRM activity order for different metals incorporated in mesoporous TiO2 was observed to be: Pd > Ni > Zn > Co >> Cu >> Sn The Zn-TiO2 catalyst showed the lowest CO selectivity among the different catalysts studied

Abstract: Background Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by presence of chronic hyperglycaemia. Thus, strategies to maintain blood glucose levels are critical for the treatment of this devastating disease. Anthocyanins are naturally occurring compounds widely available in berries, and increasing evidence demonstrates a positive relationship between consumption of anthocyanins rich foods and lowers diabetes complications. Scope and approach This review highlights recent findings on the anti-diabetic effects of anthocyanins in various organs and particularly emphasizes on the studies that investigated the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the beneficial effects of this bioactive molecules. Key findings and conclusions Over the past two decades, numerous studies have demonstrated that anthocyanins can exert the beneficial effects in diabetes by acting on various molecular targets and regulate different signalling pathways in multiple organs and tissues such as liver, pancreas, kidney, adipose, skeletal muscle and brain. Anthocyanins can lower blood glucose levels by protecting β-cells, improving insulin resistance, increasing insulin secretion, improving liver function, and inhibiting carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes. The antidiabetic properties of anthocyanins may also attribute to their antioxidant capacity. Taken together, anthocyanins may be a novel small molecule for the prevention and treatment of diabetes.

Even a cursory look at current trends and issues in education and special education illustrates that these disciplines also embrace collaboration. Middle school models are premised on creating opportunities for instructional collaboration among teachers. Collaboration is exhorted as a critical knowledge and skill area for school leadership personnel, especially principals. It is extolled as a means for conducting staff development, working with families, addressing student behavior, and responding to reform initiatives. In addition, virtually every treatise on inclusive practices, whether conceptual, anecdotal, qualitative, or quantitative, concludes that inclusion’s success in large part relies on collaboration among staff members and with parents and others, and that failures can

Abstract: Many authors have reported that the development of programs for producing durable extra-therapy responding lags behind the development of programs for producing initial behavior change. In Experiment I, responding was recorded continuously in both the therapy and extra-therapy settings. The results showed that one child did not generalize to the extra-therapy setting, but that other children did. However, for the children who generalized, extra-therapy responding was not maintained. Therfore, in Experiment II two variables affecting the durability of extra-therapy responding were assessed and found to be influential: (a) the use of partial reinforcement schedules in the original treatment environment; and (b) the presence of noncontingent reinforcers in the extra-therapy environment. The results suggest that there are two distinct parameters of extra-therapy responding: generalization and maintenance. A technology for producing durable extra-therapy responding is discussed in terms of different treatment procedures required for different deficits in extra-therapy responding.
