TL;DR: Cloned the murine homologue of human collagenase 2 and enzymatic analysis revealed that matrilysin, another MMP overexpressed in uterine tissue, is able to activate murine procollagenase 2, suggesting that both enzymes could form an activation cascade resulting in the generation of the collagenolytic activity required during the process of massive connective tissue resumption occurring in the involuting uterus.

TL;DR: The results suggest that MECP2 association has no influence in the sex bias of SLE, contrary to what has been proposed and none of the other associations seems important in this respect.
Abstract: We aimed to replicate association of newly identified systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) loci We selected the most associated SNP in 10 SLE loci These 10 SNPs were analysed in 1,579 patients with SLE and 1,726 controls of European origin by single-base extension Comparison of allele frequencies between cases and controls was done with the Mantel–Haenszel approach to account for heterogeneity between sample collections A previously controversial association with a SNP in the TYK2 gene was replicated (odds ratio (OR) = 079, P = 25 × 10-5), as well as association with the X chromosome MECP2 gene (OR = 126, P = 000085 in women), which had only been reported in a single study, and association with four other loci, 1q251 (OR = 081, P = 00001), PXK (OR = 119, P = 00038), BANK1 (OR = 083, P = 0006) and KIAA1542 (OR = 084, P = 0001), which have been identified in a genome-wide association study, but not found in any other study All these replications showed the same disease-associated allele as originally reported No association was found with the LY9 SNP, which had been reported in a single study Our results confirm nine SLE loci For six of them, TYK2, MECP2, 1q251, PXK, BANK1 and KIAA1542, this replication is important The other three loci, ITGAM, STAT4 and C8orf13-BLK, were already clearly confirmed Our results also suggest that MECP2 association has no influence in the sex bias of SLE, contrary to what has been proposed In addition, none of the other associations seems important in this respect

TL;DR: In this article, a search for supersymmetry is presented based on events with large missing transverse energy, no isolated electron or muon, and at least three jets with one or more identified as a bottom-quark jet.

TL;DR: The transcriptional regulation of the HXK1, HxK2 and GLK1 genes is described in the hope of revealing differences in the steady‐state levels of mRNA associated with a particular carbon source used in the culture medium.
Abstract: In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the transcriptional regulation of most glycolytic genes has been extensively studied. By contrast, little is known about the transcriptional control of the three glucose-phosphorylating enzymes, although this catalytic reaction has an important role in the regulation of cell metabolism. In this paper, we describe the transcriptional regulation of the HXK1, HXK2 and GLK1 genes in the hope of revealing differences in the steady-state levels of mRNA associated with a particular carbon source used in the culture medium. Our results provide evidence supporting a differential expression of the three genes depending on the carbon source used for growth. We have also studied the induction and repression kinetics of mRNA expression for the HXK1, HXK2 and GLK1 genes.

TL;DR: In this article, an algorithm is defined to identify single-jet objects that originate from the merging of the decay products of W bosons produced with high transverse momenta from jets initiated by single partons.
Abstract: In searches for new physics in the energy regime of the LHC, it is becoming increasingly important to distinguish single-jet objects that originate from the merging of the decay products of W bosons produced with high transverse momenta from jets initiated by single partons. Algorithms are defined to identify such W jets for different signals of interest, using techniques that are also applicable to other decays of bosons to hadrons that result in a single jet, such as those from highly boosted Z and Higgs bosons. The efficiency for tagging W jets is measured in data collected with the CMS detector at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns. The performance of W tagging in data is compared with predictions from several Monte Carlo simulators.
