Abstract: A notion of stratification is introduced for any compactly generated triangulated category T endowed with an action of a graded commutative noetherian ring R. The utility of this notion is demonstrated by establishing diverse consequences which follow when T is stratified by R. Among them are a classification of the localizing subcategories of T in terms of subsets of the set of prime ideals in R; a classification of the thick subcategories of the subcategory of compact objects in T; and results concerning the support of the R-module of homomorphisms Hom_T^*(C,D) leading to an analogue of the tensor product theorem for support varieties of modular representation of groups.

Abstract: Interaction with mobile applications is often awkward due to the limited and miniaturized input modalities available. This is especially problematic for games where the only incentive to use an application is the pleasure derived from the interaction. It is therefore interesting to examine novel forms of interaction in order to increase the "playability" of mobile games.In this paper we present a simple mobile gaming application on a standard Pocket PC PDA that employs computer vision (CV) as it's main interaction modality. Practical experience with the application demonstrates the feasibility of CV as a primary interaction modality and indicates the high potential of CV as an input modality for mobile devices in the future. Our approach exploits the video capabilities that are becoming ubiquitous on camera equipped smart-phones and PDAs to provide a fun solution for interaction tasks in games like "Pong", "Break-out" or soccer.

Abstract: We find that the recently introduced model of self-trapping supported by a spatially growing strength of a repulsive nonlinearity gives rise to robust vortex-soliton tori, i.e., three-dimensional vortex solitons, with topological charges S≥1. The family with S=1 is completely stable, while the one with S=2 has alternating regions of stability and instability. The families are nearly exactly reproduced in an analytical form by the Thomas-Fermi approximation. Unstable states with S=2 and 3 split into persistently rotating pairs or triangles of unitary vortices. Application of a moderate torque to the vortex torus initiates a persistent precession mode, with the torus' axle moving along a conical surface. A strong torque heavily deforms the vortex solitons, but, nonetheless, they restore themselves with the axle oriented according to the vectorial addition of angular momenta.
