TL;DR: A framework for understanding how zero-inflated data sets originate and deciding how best to model them is proposed and the different kinds of zeros that occur in ecological data are defined and classified.
Abstract: A common feature of ecological data sets is their tendency to contain many zero values. Statistical inference based on such data are likely to be inefficient or wrong unless careful thought is given to how these zeros arose and how best to model them. In this paper, we propose a framework for understanding how zero-inflated data sets originate and deciding how best to model them. We define and classify the different kinds of zeros that occur in ecological data and describe how they arise: either from 'true zero' or 'false zero' observations. After reviewing recent developments in modelling zero-inflated data sets, we use practical examples to demonstrate how failing to account for the source of zero inflation can reduce our ability to detect relationships in ecological data and at worst lead to incorrect inference. The adoption of methods that explicitly model the sources of zero observations will sharpen insights and improve the robustness of ecological analyses.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight the new developments in spray drying microencapsulation of food oils and flavors with an emphasis on the encapsulation efficiency during the process and different factors which can affect the efficiency of spray drying encapsulation.
Abstract: Microencapsulation is a rapidly expanding technology which is a unique way to package materials in the form of micro- and nano-particles, and has been well developed and accepted within the pharmaceutical, chemical, food and many other industries. Spray drying is the most commonly used encapsulation technique for food products. A successful spray drying encapsulation relies on achieving high retention of the core materials especially volatiles and minimum amounts of the surface oil on the powder particles for both volatiles and non-volatiles during the process and storage. The properties of wall and core materials and the prepared emulsion along with the drying process conditions will influence the efficiency and retention of core compounds. This review highlights the new developments in spray drying microencapsulation of food oils and flavours with an emphasis on the encapsulation efficiency during the process and different factors which can affect the efficiency of spray drying encapsulation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review focuses on recent progress in the experimental and computational studies of the roles of heteroatoms in heterogeneous nanocarbons for electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR).
Abstract: Heterogeneous nanocarbon materials are being increasingly investigated and deployed in numerous new technologies and devices for sustainable energy conversion and storage. Nanocarbons often consist of fullerene, graphene and carbon nanotubes. Their derivatives include quantum dots, nanofibres, nanoribbons, nanospheres/capsules and other nanostructured morphologies. The heterogeneous forms of these nanocarbons stem from the implantation of alien atoms into the aromatic carbon lattice or the covalent grafting of functional groups onto the carbon basal plane or edge sites. Heterogeneous nanocarbons have shown remarkable advantages in solar cells, water splitting, supercapacitors, lithium ion batteries and catalysis. This review focuses on recent progress in the experimental and computational studies of the roles of heteroatoms in heterogeneous nanocarbons for electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Critical perspectives are devoted to the ambiguous phenomena in this emerging research area. The long standing debate about the active sites is discussed with an emphasis on more rational development of advanced nanocarbon-based electrocatalysts for ORR.
