TL;DR: The pericarp development resembles that of most other Compositae in an early differentiation of the ovary wall into two zones, and later breakdown of a major part of the inner zone, but it is quite characteristic in other respects, especially, the peripheral chin of firovascular bundles which forms its main mechanical zone.
Abstract: Vernonia anthelmintica (Linn.) Willd., tribe Vernonieae, family Compositae has been studied. The cypsela has dimorphic pappus, 20 longitudinal ribs (10 primary and 10 secondary), and two types of hairs developing from single epidermal cells on surface. Certain features of vasculature of floret observed in this taxon have been considered as intermediate between relatively primitive and highly advanced conditions known in the family. Others elucidate further that the ovary is bilocular with axile placentation at base in which region the ovule is attached, and unilocular with parietal placentation in the remaining portion, and also that the ovule possibly belongs to one of the two carpels, which alone is fertile, and is an organ morphologically double in nature. The pappus has been regarded as a longitudinally dismembered calyx tube. The tissue of the ovule outside nucellus differentiates into an endothelium, a periendothelial zone, and an outer zone. In the mature seed the thickned outer epidermis and remmants of a few subjacent layers form the outer zone, and endothelium redued to a pellicle, the inner zone of the seed coat. The jacket layer of the endosperm persists between the seed coat and the dicotyledonous, orthorrhizal embryo. The pericarp development resembles that of most other Compositae in an early differentiation of the ovary wall into two zones, and later breakdown of a major part of the inner zone. But it is quite characteristic in other respects, especially, the peripheral chin of firovascular bundles which forms its main mechanical zone.

Abstract: The present investigation embodies the results of a study of 29 species belonging to nine genera The course of the vascular supply of the flower is more or less on the same pattern in all members The sepal receives three traces except inPorana paniculata where it is unitraced The lateral traces are initially fused with the petal traces InEvolvulus alsinoides the lateral traces arise independent of the petal traces The petal and stamen are uniformly single-traced organs The traces for the disc arise simultaneously with the stamen and carpel traces The disc where present is receptacular as evidenced by its vasculature The ovary is bi or tricarpellary and each carpel receives three traces The ventral bundles in species ofIpomoea, Argyreia, Merremia, Rivea, andConvolvulus fuse in pairs and then give off two branches each to the two ovules of the two sides while inCressa, Porana, Evolvulus andJacquemontia they directly furnish the ovular supply without being fused The placentation in the family has been interpreted as parietal

Abstract: The anatomy of the olfactory organs in the moray,Muraena undulata, has been studied. It has an elongated rosette which has been placed in Burne's(1909)rosette column II and in Bateson's(1889)rosette type 2.The olfactory surface in M.undulata is very extensively developed. The species is a macrosmat and has been classified with Teichmann's(1954)group 3 of nose fishes.

TL;DR: In this article, the penetration of longitudinal and transverse fields into a semi-infinite collisional plasma with fractionally accommodating boundary, having specular and diffuse reflecions is studied.
Abstract: Penetration of longitudinal and transverse fields into a semi-infinite collisional plasma with fractionally accommodating boundary, having specular and diffuse reflecions is studied. The penetration of longitudinal field was studied by Landau and recently by Mason which was extended for transverse waves by Gupta and Varma. The theory is extended for collisions between electrons and ions according to B.G.K. Model, and its resemblence with metals for electrons and holes, gives its practical significance. The reflection coefficients and surface impedence are observed. The results are compared with non-collisional cases and it is observed that depth of penetration for collisional plasma decreases.

TL;DR: The variable axial trend and plunge in the Aravalli rocks of early Precambrian age (2,500 to 2,000 m.y.) around Udaipur (lat 24° 35′ N; long 73° 41′ E.) in southern Rajasthan, has been interpreted as being the result of interference of two periods of folding as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The variable axial trend and plunge in the folds of the Aravalli rocks of early Precambrian age (2,500 to 2,000 m.y.) around Udaipur (lat 24° 35′ N.; long 73° 41′ E.) in southern Rajasthan, has been interpreted as being the result of interference of two periods of folding. The later folds with approximately north-south, steep axial planes are thought to have developed over an early set of overturned folds.

Abstract: Polarographic behaviour of Cadmium complex of tyrosine at D.M.E. has been investigated. The effect of change of pH, temperature, ligand concentration and height of mercury column on the wave characteristics has been studied and the results interpreted. The values of the stability constants of the complexes so formed have been calculated at 20±1°C and 30±1°C. Thermodynamic functions have also been evaluated.

Abstract: SUMMARY It is shown that varying probability in product method estimation increases the efficiency of estimate under some usual conditions. Further, a necessary condition, for the product estimate from a sample drawn with pps and without replacement to be more efficient than the product estimate from a sample drawn with pps and replacement, has been obtained; incidentally, it is the same as obtained by Narain (1951) for varying probability without replacement to be more efficient than varying probability with replacement. The use of the R.H.C. sampling scheme has also been suggested, and its variance and bias has been shown to be always less than that of pps with replacement.

TL;DR: In this article, the non-torsional oscillations of a disc in rotating second-order fluid were studied and the depth of penetration of the oscillations was increased due to the presence of the coefficient of visco-elasticity.
Abstract: This paper deals with the non-torsional oscillations of a disc in rotating second-order fluid. The disc and the fluid are initially in a state of rigid rotation and the non-torsional oscillations in its own plane are then imposed on the disc. The depth of penetration of the oscillations is increased due to the presence of the coefficient of visco-elasticity. It tends to infinity when the frequency of the oscillations is twice the angular velocity of rotation, meaning thereby that no equilibrium boundary layer exist. An initial value problem for two cases—(i) one disc bounding a semi-infinite mass of the fluid, (ii) two discs containing the fluid in between them is discussed. The classical Rayleigh layer for second-order fluid is derived as a particualr case and it is also found that steady Ekman layer is reached for large time.
