TL;DR: In this article, double metal ethoxides with the general formula M[Al(OEt)4]2 have been synthesized from the reactions of aluminium and bivalent alkaline earth metals (Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba) in ethyl alcohol.
Abstract: Double metal ethoxides with the general formula M[Al(OEt)4]2 have been synthesized from the reactions of aluminium ethoxides with bivalent alkaline earth metals (Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba) in ethyl alcohol. All of these are soluble in ethyl alcohol as well as in benzene and some of these can be volatilised under reduced pressure. Alcoholysis reactions with normal and tertiary butyl alcohols gave products of the types M[Al(OBun)4]2 and M[Al(OEt) (OBut)3]2 respectively. Molecular weights and n. m.r. spectra have been reported and discussed.

Abstract: Synthesis of a large number of simple and complex polymetaphosphate glasses of alkali metals with the general formulae (MxM′(1-x)PO3)n and (MxM″1–x/2PO3)n has been described, where M and M′ = Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs; M″ = Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu or Ni; and x = 1, ⅔, ½ or ⅓. The preparations have been carried out by heating alkali dihydrogen phosphate, metal oxide (or carbonate) and diammonium hydrogen phosphate together in the desired stoichiometric ratios at 700°, 800° or 900°, followed by chilling the clear melts obtained. Some of these complex derivatives have also been prepared by treating metal salt solutions with alkali polymetaphosphate followed by precipitation with alcohol. A detailed study has been made of the following properties of these derivatives: molecular weights (Mw and Mn), viscosity, conductivity, i.r. and n.m.r. spectra. All the derivatives have been shown to behave as long chain metaphosphates and their polymeric character has been further supported by chromatographic and metachromatic studies.

TL;DR: In this paper, the 1∵1 and 2∵3 derivatives of the tridentate Schiff bases were shown to be labile in dry benzene and showed that the labile nature of the isopropoxy groups in the 1-1 derivatives has been shown by exchange reactions with an excess oft-butyl alcohol leading to the formation of the 2-3 derivatives in almost quantitative yield.
Abstract: Bifunctional tridentate Schiff bases such as, $$\begin{gathered} HOC_6 H_4 C(CH_3 ) : NCH_2 CH_2 OH, \hfill \\ HOC_6 H_4 C(CH_3 ) : NCH_2 CH_2 (OH)CH_3 , \hfill \\ HOC_6 H_4 C(H) : NCH_2 CH_2 OH \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ and HOC6H4C(H)∶NCH2CH(OH)CH3 react with La(III), Pr(III) and Nd(III) isopropoxides to 1∶1 and 2∶3 derivatives of the type,Ln(O−i-C3H7)(OC6H4C[R]∶NR′O) andLn2(OC6H4C[R]∶ NR′O)3 [where,Ln=La(III), Pr(III) or Nd(III); R=CH3 or H and R′=CH2−CH2 or CH2CHCH3] in dry benzene. The labile nature of the isopropoxy groups in the 1∶1 derivatives has been shown by exchange reactions with an excess oft-butyl alcohol leading to the formation ofLn(O−t-C4H9)(OC6H4C[R]∶NR′O); (where R=CH3 and R′=CH2CHCH3) type derivatives in almost quantitative yield. The IR spectra of the resulting derivatives have been recorded in the range of 4000–400 cm−1, ν C=N frequency bands appear at ≈ 1620 cm−1 and almost no change has been noted in their positions on complexation. Some new peaks are, however, observed in the range of 700–600 cm−1 and these may be ascribed to the ring deformation coupled with both theLn−O stretching and C−CH3 stretching modes.

TL;DR: In this paper, a double integral which involves a certain product of two H -functions of different arguments is evaluated and shown to yield a number of known or new integral formulas of interest to mathematical analysts and applied mathematicians.
Abstract: This note evaluates a double integral which involves a certain product of two H -functions of different arguments. The main result (6) below can be suitably specialized to yield a number of known or new integral formulas of interest to mathematical analysts and applied mathematicians; it may also be looked upon as a double integral transformation which would easily lead to effective operational techniques in the theory of special functions.

TL;DR: The effect of different doses of pyrethrum on the blood glucose level and glucose tolerance in pytethrum-administered gerbils, were investigated and possible reasons for these effects are discussed.
Abstract: The effect of different doses of pyrethrum on the blood glucose level and glucose tolerance in pytethrum-administered gerbils, were investigated. Pyrethrum produces hyperglycemia and lowers the glucose tolerance indicating an impairment in the uptake and utilization of glucose. The possible reasons for these effects are discussed.

TL;DR: The shoot apex of Nymphaea stellata Willd shows a tunica-corpus organization with a cytohistological zonation and a cambium-like zone is developed proximal to the corpus mother cells zone in apices at the post-minimal stages, which contributes to the increase in height of the apex.
Abstract: The shoot apex ofNymphaea stellata Willd. shows a tunica-corpus organization with a cytohistological zonation. The tunica is single-layered and the corpus exhibits three zones, the corpus mother cells zone, the flanking zone and the pith-rib meristem zone. The plastochron is divided into five stages based on the plastochron index—the minimal, early post-minimal, late post-minimal, pre-maximal and maximal. A cambium-like zone is developed proximal to the corpus mother cells zone in apices at the post-minimal stages, which contributes to the increase in height of the apex.

TL;DR: In this article, the percentage distribution of cadmium, lead and copper present in various forms as a function of the logarithm of the ligand concentration was calculated.
Abstract: Cadmium, lead and copper complexes with propylenediamine have been studied polarographically in sodium perchlorate medium at μ=0.1 and 30°C. Cadmium and copper form 1∶1, 1∶2 and 1∶3 complex species in solution while lead forms only 1∶1 and 1∶2 species.DeFord andHume's method, as modified byIrving, has been applied for the determination of composition and stability constants of the complex species. The percentage distribution of cadmium, lead and copper present in various forms as a function of the logarithm of ligand concentration was calculated.

TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction of oxovanadium(IV) with some hydroxy acids, salicylic (SA), 5-sulphosalicylic(SSA), and 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-Sulphonic (HQSA) acids, has been studied potentiometrically.
Abstract: The interaction of oxovanadium(IV) with some hydroxy acids, salicylic (SA), 5-sulphosalicylic (SSA) and 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic (HQSA) acids, has been studied potentiometrically. Further, pH-metric studies of the ternary systems, VO2+−HQSA-dicarboxylic or hydroxy acids (where dicarboxylic acids = phthalic and maleic acids and hydroxy acids =SA andSSA) have been carried out and the formation of 1∶1∶1 mixed complexes inferred from the potentiometric curves. The equilibrium, chelate formation and hydrolysis constants have been calculated in the case of binary systems. The ternary complexes have been found to be more stable as indicated by their formation constants.
