TL;DR: The results showed, among Croatian responders, more limitations in accepting new technological solutions for mobility in the future, which points to the need to have a more public debate about future mobility solutions and their benefits in order to bring them closer to the wider population.
Abstract: Sustainable management of urban areas is becoming during the last decades, one of the most important challenges of the 21st century that resulted in the concept of “smart city“. The city can be defined as "smart" when social capital, traditional and modern (ICT) communication infrastructure encourage sustainable economic development and high quality of life. Smart Mobility is often highlighted as a key system without which the Smart City could not be sustainable. A number of smart solutions have been analyzed and implemented in the context of smart mobility/movement in the cities and beyond. Many of these solutions are based on IT and they include a vehicle navigation system, e-parking, e-ticket, info-mobility signalization, demand-responsive transport, car sharing, bike sharing, public transport live tracking but also some innovative solutions are not necessarily related to IT (walking bus). Smart Mobility Survey has been conducted in Croatia and Italy during 2017 with the aim to establish users’ opinion on a number of the above-mentioned solutions that have been lately used in the cities worldwide. The survey has examined the familiarity with such solutions, their current use, and future expectations of using smart solutions in everyday life. The results showed, among Croatian responders, more limitations in accepting new technological solutions for mobility in the future. This points to the need to have a more public debate about future mobility solutions and their benefits in order to bring them closer to the wider population.

TL;DR: The data, in combination with a report by others show that the TLR2‐P631H allele could be associated with protection to meningococcal meningitis, suggest that by dominantly inhibiting the response of cells important in the immune response this mutant might confer either protection or susceptibility toMeningitis or tuberculosis, respectively.
Abstract: We have sequenced 416 Toll-like receptor-2 (TLR2) alleles in 208 subjects in a tuberculosis case–control study in Croatian Caucasian population. We found ten single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) among which three were novel (S97S, T138I and L266F). The genotype containing TLR2-P631H SNP was significantly overrepresented in patients with tuberculosis when compared to contact controls, suggesting a small yet increased risk to disease. The causative agent of tuberculosis is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can bind to TLR2 with its lipoprotein coat. The TLR2-P631H mutant has a dominant negative effect on the wild type TLR2 signalling in transfected HEK293 kidney cells using the NF-κB-driven luciferase as a reporter gene with ligands like M. avium extracts, Pam3CysSK4 or FSL-1 that bind TLR2/TLR1 or TLR2/TLR6 heterodimers, respectively. Studies on internalization from the Regular Madine Darby Canine Kidney cell surface into the early endosomal compartments showed a lower rate of the mutant compared to the wild type. Our data, in combination with a report by others show that the TLR2-P631H allele could be associated with protection to meningococcal meningitis, suggest that by dominantly inhibiting the response of cells important in the immune response this mutant might confer either protection or susceptibility to meningitis or tuberculosis, respectively.

TL;DR: The study indicates that the clinician should consider deviation of the foramen during root canal treatment, as the deviation could not easily be detected radiographically.
Abstract: Deviation of the major apical foramen from the anatomical root apex is a recognized phenomenon. To determine the frequency, position and mean distance of the major apical foramen from the anatomical root apex, 230 roots of permanent teeth were examined stereomicroscopically and radiographically. Radiographic analysis was used to establish how accurate the conventional radiograph was in displaying such a deviation. The frequency of deviation of the major foramen, determined stereomicroscopically, was 76%, and depended on the type of teeth examined. Radiographic analysis of the same sample revealed 57% of root canals had asymmetry of the root canal foramen. Agreement of stereomicroscopic and radiographic findings was found to be 61%. The most frequent deviation of the major foramen was on the distal root surface (29%), but this was not statistically significant. The mean distance between the deviation of the major foramen and the anatomical root apex was 0.99 mm. The study indicates that the clinician should consider deviation of the foramen during root canal treatment, as the deviation could not easily be detected radiographically.
