TL;DR: Critical micelle concentration (CMC) of sodium dodecyl sulphate at various pH's between 2 and 10 has been studied using three methods as dye absorption, conductance, and light scattering measurement.
Abstract: Critical micelle concentration (CMC) of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) at various pH's between 2 and 10 has been studied using three methods as dye absorption, conductance, and light scattering measurement. At low pH (below pH 4) the CMC decreases whereas at higher pH it remains constant.

TL;DR: The results suggest the following hypotheses: (i) recent founder effects arose in E. granulosus and E. multilocularis after introducing particular individuals into the endemic areas by anthropogenic movement or natural migration of host mammals, and (ii) the ancestor of E. shiquicus was segregated into the Tibetan Plateau by colonising alpine mammals and its mitochondrial locus has evolved without bottleneck effects.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the individual fixed-odds betting market on UK football exhibits the same favourite-longshot bias as that found in horse-racing.
Abstract: It is shown that the individual fixed-odds betting market on UK football exhibits the same favourite-longshot bias as that found in horse-racing. The bias appears both in betting on results (home win, away win or draw) and in betting on specific scores, and there are certain trading rules which appear to be profitable. Poisson and Negative Binomial regressions are carried out to estimate the mean number of goals scored by a team in a match with given market odds for the various outcomes. Tables of odds for individual scores are derived and these appear to fit the actual outcomes far better than those of the bookmaker.

TL;DR: The detection of current infection of individual dogs with E. granulosus by coproantigen ELISA has the potential to replace arecoline purgation, while specific serum antibody detection should be useful in assessing Echinococcus exposure in dog populations.

TL;DR: A mechanism by which arachidonic acid may potentiate the risk of metastatic migration and secondary implantation in vivo is identified, a risk which can be reduced with the uptake of Omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids.
Abstract: Epidemiological studies have shown not only a relationship between the intake of dietary lipids and an increased risk of developing metastatic prostate cancer, but also the type of lipid intake that influences the risk of metastatic prostate cancer The Omega-6 poly-unsaturated fatty acid, Arachidonic acid, has been shown to enhance the proliferation of malignant prostate epithelial cells and increase the risk of advanced prostate cancer However, its role in potentiating the migration of cancer cells is unknown Here we show that arachidonic acid at concentrations
