TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the characteristics of the new neutron beam in the currently available configurations, which correspond to two different collimation systems and two choices of neutron moderator, including the intensity and energy dependence of the neutron flux, the spatial profile of the beam, the in-beam background components and the energy resolution/broadening.
Abstract: The neutron time-of-flight facility n_TOF features a white neutron source produced by spallation through 20GeV/c protons impinging on a lead target. The facility, aiming primarily at the measurement of neutron-induced reaction cross sections, was operating at CERN between 2001 and 2004, and then underwent a major upgrade in 2008. This paper presents in detail all the characteristics of the new neutron beam in the currently available configurations, which correspond to two different collimation systems and two choices of neutron moderator. The characteristics discussed include the intensity and energy dependence of the neutron flux, the spatial profile of the beam, the in-beam background components and the energy resolution/broadening. The discussion of these features is based on dedicated measurements and Monte Carlo simulations, and includes estimations of the systematic uncertainties of the mentioned quantities.

TL;DR: Algorithms to divide the whole area taking into account UAV’s relative capabilities and initial locations are presented, demonstrating the feasibility of the cooperative search in a scenario of the COMETS multi-UAV project.
Abstract: This paper focuses on the problem of cooperatively searching a given area to detect objects of interest, using a team of heterogenous unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). The paper presents algorithms to divide the whole area taking into account UAV’s relative capabilities and initial locations. Resulting areas are assigned among the UAVs, who could cover them using a zigzag pattern. Each UAV has to compute the sweep direction which minimizes the number of turns needed along a zigzag pattern. Algorithms are developed considering their computational complexity in order to allow near-real time operation. Results demonstrating the feasibility of the cooperative search in a scenario of the COMETS multi-UAV project are presented.

TL;DR: In this article, a Fourier series analysis of the dielectrophoretic force on a particle generated by this type of electrode array, for both dielectrophicoresis and travelling wave dielectricis, is presented.
Abstract: In alternating current electrokinetics, electric fields are used to generate forces on particles. Techniques have been applied for the manipulation of particles and the measurement of their dielectric properties. The fields are typically generated by microelectrode structures fabricated on planar surfaces. One particular design, using interdigitated bar electrodes, is used both in dielectrophoretic field flow fractionation and travelling wave dielectrophoresis. This paper presents a Fourier series analysis of the dielectrophoretic force on a particle generated by this type of electrode array, for both dielectrophoresis and travelling wave dielectrophoresis. Simple expressions are derived for the force at a distance of the order of the electrode spacing from the electrodes. A full analytical expression is given for the dielectrophoretic force in two dimensions. Comparisons are made with previously published experimental observations.
