TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored different levels of place-based marketing in the form of region of origin strategies used by wineries in their branding efforts and found that the addition of regional information on a wine label increased consumer confidence in the quality of the product.
Abstract: Purpose- The purpose of this paper is to explore different levels of place-based marketing in the form of region of origin strategies used by wineries in their branding efforts. The overall aim is to obtain insights into wine consumer dynamics such as product involvement level, consumption frequency and differences between segments on the basis of gender and age from a regional branding perspective. Design/methodology/approach- Data collection took place by means of a highly-structured online survey of wine consumers across the USA. The request to participate was directed to legal wine drinking age people of 21 years and older to 9,922 e-mail boxes that yielded a response rate of 5.7 percent, finally resulting in 570 usable surveys. Findings- Consumers used regional branding cues, information and images in their assessment and valuation of comparative wine labels. Almost without exception, the addition of regional information on a wine label increased consumer confidence in the quality of the product. Research limitations/implications- Any follow-on work to the study should also include a broader sampling of consumer types throughout the USA and comparisons made with the study to assess the validity of generalising the results here . Practical implications- Regional branding efforts should be targeted at high wine product involvement consumers rather than their low involvement counterparts, as high involvement consumers are likely to be more influenced by brand-based cues. Originality/value- The paper is of value to academic readers, wine industry practitioners regional trade and tourism associations and other regional trade and tourism associations and other commercial entities that market their products with regional branding cues.

TL;DR: It is proposed that the current means of responding to emerging substances might no longer be fit for purpose in a world in which different substances can be rapidly introduced, and where people who use drugs can change preferences on the basis of market availability.

TL;DR: In this article, a review and analysis of previous life cycle energy analysis studies was conducted re-examining this conclusion and it was demonstrated that embodied energy can represent 35% of the future emissions target of a building in a mild climate.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the state-of-the-art biochar characterization methods is presented, focusing on proximate, ultimate, physicochemical, surface and structural analyses.
Abstract: Biochar is a carbon-rich by-product of the thermal conversion of organic feedstocks and is primarily used as a soil amendment. Identification and quantification of biochar properties are important to ensure optimal outcomes for agricultural or environmental applications. Advanced spectroscopic techniques have recently been adopted in biochar characterization. However, biochar characterization approaches rely entirely on the user's choice and accessibility to the new technology. The selection of proper methods is vital to accurately and consistently assess biochar properties. This review critically evaluates current biochar characterization methods of proximate, ultimate, physicochemical, surface and structural analyses, and important biochar properties for various applications.

TL;DR: A syntactic definition of strong XFD satisfaction in an XML document is proposed and then justified by showing that, similar to the case in relational databases, for the case of simple paths, keys in XML are a special case of XFDs.
Abstract: In this article, we address the problem of how to extend the definition of functional dependencies (FDs) in incomplete relations to XML documents (called XFDs) using the well-known strong satisfaction approach. We propose a syntactic definition of strong XFD satisfaction in an XML document and then justify it by showing that, similar to the case in relational databases, for the case of simple paths, keys in XML are a special case of XFDs. We also propose a normal form for XML documents based on our definition of XFDs and provide a formal justification for it by proving that it is a necessary and sufficient condition for the elimination of redundancy in an XML document.
