TL;DR: It is shown that female preference for secondary sexual traits in male face shapes varies with the probability of conception across the menstrual cycle, similar to that of men with low fluctuating asymmetry.
Abstract: Women prefer slightly feminized male facial shapes1. Such faces (Fig. 1a) are given positive personality attributions1 that might correlate with actual behaviour2. In contrast, masculine features seem to signal immunological competence3. Heritable benefits can be realized only if conception follows copulation, so women might be more attentive to phenotypic markers indicating immunological competence during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle when conception is most likely4,5. Consistent with this hypothesis is the observation that women's preference for the odour of men with low fluctuating asymmetry (a correlate of testosterone-facilitated trait size and developmental stability) increases with the probability of conception across the menstrual cycle5.Symmetrical men report more extra-pair copulation partners6, and extra-pair copulation rates peak in midcycle7. Here we show that female preference for secondary sexual traits in male face shapes varies with the probability of conception across the menstrual cycle.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a scheme for the calculation of magnetic response parameters in insulators using ultrasoft pseudopotentials, which uses the gauge-including projector augmented wave method to obtain allelectron accuracy for both finite and infinitely periodic systems.
Abstract: We present a scheme for the calculation of magnetic response parameters in insulators using ultrasoft pseudopotentials. It uses the gauge-including projector augmented wave method [C. J. Pickard and F. Mauri, Phys. Rev. B 63, 245101 (2001)] to obtain all-electron accuracy for both finite and infinitely periodic systems. We consider in detail the calculation of NMR chemical shieldings. The approach is successfully validated first for molecular systems by comparing calculated chemical shieldings for a range of molecules with quantum chemistry results and then in the solid state by comparing $^{17}\mathrm{O}$ NMR parameters calculated for silicates with experiment.

TL;DR: Modification of p50 by thioredoxin, a gene induced by stimulation of T-lymphocytes in parallel with NF-kappa B translocation, is a likely step in the cascade of events leading to full NF- kappa B activation.
Abstract: A role for redox regulation in activation of the NF-kappa B transcription factor was suggested by the observation that DNA binding activity of free protein, but not preformed DNA-protein complex, is inhibited by -SH modifying agents but enhanced by reducing agents. Mutagenesis of conserved cysteine residues in the p50 subunit identified amino acid 62 as being important for DNA binding, as a serine substitution at this position reduces DNA binding affinity, but renders the protein insensitive to -SH modifying agents. DNA binding activity of the wild type protein but not the amino acid 62 mutant was also stimulated by thioredoxin while detection of disulphide cross linked dimers in p50 but not the amino acid 62 mutant suggests that thioredoxin stimulates DNA binding by reduction of a disulphide bond involving cysteine 62. The physiological relevance of these findings was supported by the observation that cotransfection of a plasmid expressing human thioredoxin and an HIV LTR driven reporter construct resulted in an NF-kappa B dependent increase in expression of the reporter gene. Thus modification of p50 by thioredoxin, a gene induced by stimulation of T-lymphocytes in parallel with NF-kappa B translocation, is a likely step in the cascade of events leading to full NF-kappa B activation.

TL;DR: A comparison of the phylogeographic patterns with geological and palaeoenvironmental data demonstrates that glacial refugia were located along the southwestern, southern, eastern and northern border of the Alps, which implies that evolutionary or biogeographic processes induced by climatic fluctuations act on gene and species diversity in a similar way.
Abstract: Many mountain ranges have been strongly glaciated during the Quaternary ice ages, and the locations of glacial refugia of mountain plants have been debated for a long time. A series of detailed molecular studies, investigating intraspecific genetic variation of mountain plants in the European Alps, now allows for a first synopsis. A comparison of the phylogeographic patterns with geological and palaeoenvironmental data demonstrates that glacial refugia were located along the southwestern, southern, eastern and northern border of the Alps. Additional glacial refugia were present in central Alpine areas, where high-elevation plants survived the last glaciation on ice-free mountain tops. The observed intraspecific phylogeographies suggest general patterns of glacial survival, which conform to well-known centres of Alpine species diversity and endemism. This implies that evolutionary or biogeographic processes induced by climatic fluctuations act on gene and species diversity in a similar way.

TL;DR: The most recent data release from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys (SDSS-IV) is DR16 as mentioned in this paper, which is the fourth and penultimate from the fourth phase of the survey.
Abstract: This paper documents the sixteenth data release (DR16) from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys; the fourth and penultimate from the fourth phase (SDSS-IV). This is the first release of data from the southern hemisphere survey of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2); new data from APOGEE-2 North are also included. DR16 is also notable as the final data release for the main cosmological program of the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS), and all raw and reduced spectra from that project are released here. DR16 also includes all the data from the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS) and new data from the SPectroscopic IDentification of ERosita Survey (SPIDERS) programs, both of which were co-observed on eBOSS plates. DR16 has no new data from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey (or the MaNGA Stellar Library "MaStar"). We also preview future SDSS-V operations (due to start in 2020), and summarize plans for the final SDSS-IV data release (DR17).
