TL;DR: Geographic location was found to be the only factor influencing chemical ingredient application patterns in the majority of the studied farm groups, and these farm groups utilised the largest amount of chemicals relative to production, with feed additives and plant extracts, probiotics, and disinfectants, being the most used chemical classes.

TL;DR: It is shown that salmon farming had similar effects on the benthos as other forms of organic enrichment, but the effects were limited to a small area in the immediate vicinity of the cages.

TL;DR: The role of emotion in the qualitative research process and the effects of emotional experiences on the researcher is discussed in this article, where the authors present a range of emotional encounters that qualitative researchers may face.
Abstract: This paper addresses the role of emotion in the qualitative research process and in particular, the effects of emotional experiences on the researcher. Drawing briefly on the literature, we show the importance of emotion for understanding the research process. Whilst this literature acknowledges the emotional risk for research respondents, there is little evidence providing in-depth understanding of the emotions of the researcher. We consider theoretically and empirically, the significance of emotion throughout the duration of a research project. Using our own personal experiences in the field, we present a range of emotional encounters that qualitative researchers may face. We offer suggestions for research teams who wish to develop strategies for 'managing' emotion and effectively utilizing 'emotionally-sensed knowledge'. We conclude that unless emotion in research is acknowledged, not only will researchers be left vulnerable, but also our understandings of the social world will remain impoverished. The...

TL;DR: Evidence of consistent interspecific interactions in a natural mammalian system is presented through the analysis of parasite intensity data collected from a free-ranging rabbit population, sampled monthly for a period of 23 yr, suggesting that parasite interactions could have profound implications for the dynamics of parasite communities.
Abstract: Most animal species are infected with multiple parasite species; however, the role of interspecific parasite interactions in influencing parasite dynamics and shaping parasite communities has been unclear. Although laboratory studies have found evidence of cross-immunity, immunosuppression and competition, analyses of hosts in the field have generally concluded that parasite communities are little more than random assemblages. Here we present evidence of consistent interspecific interactions in a natural mammalian system, revealed through the analysis of parasite intensity data collected from a free-ranging rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) population, sampled monthly for a period of 23 yr. The wild rabbit plays host to a diverse gut helminth community that reflects the communities seen in other economically important domestic herbivores. These findings suggest that parasite interactions could have profound implications for the dynamics of parasite communities. The efficacy of parasite control programmes could be jeopardized if such interactions are not taken into account. In contrast, a clear understanding of such interactions may provide the basis for the development of more environmentally acceptable methods of parasite control.

TL;DR: In this paper, an exploratory field study of practices at the interface between management accounting and marketing management affirm SMA's limited impact on practice in the UK, however, there are indications that a new subset of SMA developments may be emerging as accountants and marketers begin to measure the performance of brands.
