TL;DR: The obtained results showed that the proposed model can monitor both short and long term patterns due to the use of multiscale time series of rainfall and runoff data as the GP inputs, and was compared favorably to ANN and GP models.
Abstract: In this paper, the wavelet analysis was linked to the genetic programming (GP) concept for constructing a hybrid model to detect the seasonality patterns in the rainfall–runoff time process. This approach was used to determine the dominant input variables of an artificial neural network (ANN) rainfall–runoff model via a sensitivity analysis. In this way, the main time series of two variables, rainfall and runoff, were decomposed into some multi frequency time series by the wavelet transform. Then, these decomposed time series were imposed as input data to the GP to optimize the input structure of ANN model. This methodology was utilized in daily and monthly timescale modeling for two watersheds with distinct climatologic regimes. The obtained results were compared favorably to ANN and GP models. The obtained results showed that the proposed model can monitor both short and long term patterns due to the use of multiscale time series of rainfall and runoff data as the GP inputs. Moreover, using the ...

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of these parameters were investigated in fabrication of AZ91/SiO 2 composite by keeping the rotational speed at 1250-rpm, three traverse speeds (20, 40, 63mm/min) were selected on 8mm thick AZ91 magnesium alloy.
Abstract: Process parameters are one of the major factors in friction stir processing. Therefore, the effects of these parameters were investigated in fabrication of AZ91/SiO 2 composite. By keeping the rotational speed at 1250 rpm, three traverse speeds (20, 40, 63 mm/min) were selected on 8 mm thick AZ91 magnesium alloy. The prepared grove contained 8% volume fraction nano-SiO 2 powder. Microstructural properties were investigated by means of optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results show that by increasing the traverse speed, grain size decreased significantly and hardness rose. Maximum amount of hardness achieved in this experiment was 124 HV and the minimum grain size was 8 μm. Also tensile properties of the specimen produced in one, two and three passes were investigated by standard tensile test. Results show that FSP improved the tensile characteristics of the as cast AZ91 alloy significantly.

TL;DR: Although this result provides reliable indicators for discrimination of stroke types, imaging studies are still the gold standard modality for diagnosis.
Abstract: BACKGROUND Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the third leading cause of death and disability in developed countries. Anyone suspected of having a stroke should be taken immediately to a medical facility for diagnosis and treatment. The symptoms that follow a stroke aren't significant and depend on the area of the brain that has been affected and the amount of tissue damaged. Parameters for predicting long-term outcome in such patients have not been clearly delineated, therefore the aim of this study was to investigate this possibility and to test a system that might practicably be used routinely to aid management and predict outcomes of individual stroke patients. METHODS A descriptive hospital-based study of the neurological symptoms and signs of 503 patients with ischemic stroke, including severe headache, seizure, eye movement disorder, pupil size, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), agitation were analyzed in this study. RESULTS In the current study, dilated pupils, agitation, acute onset headache, lower GCS score, seizure, and eye gaze impairment had significantly higher prevalence in hemorrhagic stroke patients (P<0.001). However, the rate of gradual progressive headache is significantly higher in ischemic stroke patients (P<0.001). CONCLUSION Although this result provides reliable indicators for discrimination of stroke types, imaging studies are still the gold standard modality for diagnosis.
