TL;DR: The experiments indicated that both UV light and TiO2 were needed for the effective destruction of the dye, and the electrical energy consumption per order of magnitude for photocatalytic decolorization of the dyed dye was lower in the UV/TiO2/H2O2 process than that in theUV/Ti O2 process.
Abstract: TiO2 supported on glass beads was prepared and its photocatalytic activity was determined by photooxidation of the commercial textile dye, C.I. Direct Red 23, in aqueous solution illuminated by a UV-C lamp (30 W). The progress of photocatalytic decolorization of the C.I. Direct Red 23 was studied by measuring the absorbance at λmax = 507 nm by UV Vis spectrophotometer. The experiments indicated that both UV light and TiO2 were needed for the effective destruction of the dye. The effect of pH on the rate of decolorization efficiency was followed in the pH range 2–12. Acidic pH range was found to favor the decolorization rate. The addition of a proper amount of hydrogen peroxide improved the decolorization, whereas the excess hydrogen peroxide quenched the formation of hydroxyl radicals (•OH). The electrical energy consumption per order of magnitude for photocatalytic decolorization of the dye was lower in the UV/TiO2/H2O2 process than that in the UV/TiO2 process. In the real wastewater sample the efficienc...

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the major limitations of leishmaniasis: long-term therapy, limited efficacy and the development of drug-resistant parasites remain the major limitation.
Abstract: Background:
Leishmaniasis is a protozoan disease, affecting 12 million people in different regions of the world with a wide spectrum of diseases. Although several chemotherapeutic agents have been used for treating the disease, long-term therapy, limited efficacy and the development of drug-resistant parasites remain the major limitations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dye solution containing acid red 17 (AR17) by photoelectro-Fenton (PEF) combined with photocatalytic process was studied, where carbon nanotube-polytetrafluoroethylene (CNT-PTFE) electrode was used as cathode.

TL;DR: In this article, a four level atomic configuration is proposed for controlling the optical bistability and transmission coefficient with application on all-optical switching, where two circularly polarized components from a weak linearly-polarized probe beam are interacted separately by two transitions of this medium.

TL;DR: An ANP approach in combination with the concepts of global sensitivity and uncertainty analyses was used for land subsidence susceptibility mapping (LSSM) in north-western Iran, indicating a 6% improvement in the accuracy of the ANP method as a result of using an integrated global sensitivity analysis.
Abstract: Geographic information system (GIS)-based multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is commonly used to solve a range of complex spatial problems. We have incorporated an analytical network process (...
