TL;DR: A new metaheuristic optimization algorithm, called bat algorithm (BA), is used to solve constraint optimization tasks, and the optimal solutions obtained are found to be better than the best solutions provided by the existing methods.
Abstract: In this study, we use a new metaheuristic optimization algorithm, called bat algorithm (BA), to solve constraint optimization tasks. BA is verified using several classical benchmark constraint problems. For further validation, BA is applied to three benchmark constraint engineering problems reported in the specialized literature. The performance of the bat algorithm is compared with various existing algorithms. The optimal solutions obtained by BA are found to be better than the best solutions provided by the existing methods. Finally, the unique search features used in BA are analyzed, and their implications for future research are discussed in detail.

TL;DR: In this paper, the most promising method to improve the photocatalytic activity and facilitate separation process is to introduce a magnetic compound over the graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) sheets.
Abstract: Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has gained remarkable acceptance as a visible-light-driven photocatalyst with a distinctive 2D structure and great stability. Owing to its superior features, g-C3N4 has been engaged in various scientific activities for environmental pollution abatement, production and storage of energy, and gas sensors. However, the visible-light efficiency of pure g-C3N4 is very poor and its separation from the phototreated systems is difficult. The most promising method to improve the photocatalytic activity and facilitate separation process is to introduce a magnetic compound over the g-C3N4 sheets. This review has mainly focused on the recent advancement in fabrication, characterization and application of magnetic g-C3N4-based nanocomposites. Accordingly, four primary g-C3N4-based nanocomposites are discussed based on the type of integrated magnetic material. The effects on the structure, physico-chemical properties, photocatalytic activity towards degradation of pollutants, hydrogen generation, solid phase extraction, lithium-ion batteries, gas sensors, and supercapacitors are also discussed in detail.

TL;DR: The up-to-date knowledge of miRNA-mediated gene upregulation through highlighting some notable examples and the emerging concepts of their associations with other posttranscriptional gene regulation processes are reviewed.
Abstract: Discovered in 1993, micoRNAs (miRNAs) are now recognized as one of the major regulatory gene families in eukaryotes. To date, 24521 microRNAs have been discovered and there are certainly more to come. It was primarily acknowledged that miRNAs result in gene expression repression at both the level of mRNA stability by conducting mRNA degradation and the level of translation (at initiation and after initiation) by inhibiting protein translation or degrading the polypeptides through binding complementarily to 3′UTR of the target mRNAs. Nevertheless, some studies revealed that miRNAs have the capability of activating gene expression directly or indirectly in respond to different cell types and conditions and in the presence of distinct cofactors. This reversibility in their posttranslational gene regulatory natures enables the bearing cells to rapidly response to different cell conditions and consequently block unnecessary energy wastage or maintain the cell state. This paper provides an overview of the current understandings of the miRNA characteristics including their genes and biogenesis, as well as their mediated downregulation. We also review up-to-date knowledge of miRNA-mediated gene upregulation through highlighting some notable examples and discuss the emerging concepts of their associations with other posttranscriptional gene regulation processes.
