TL;DR: This study presents a stochastic approach to design a wind integrated energy hub with multiple energy systems that would optimally determine appropriate number and size of system components that satisfy electricity and thermal demand and system constraints.
Abstract: This study presents a stochastic approach to design a wind integrated energy hub with multiple energy systems. Energy hub system offers significant advantages to energy services by providing the flexibility to cope with the challenging effects of intermittent renewable energy sources penetration. To this end, the wind integrated energy hub design problem would optimally determine appropriate number and size of system components that satisfy electricity and thermal demand and system constraints. To secure operation, the reliability indices such as the loss-of-load expectation and the expected energy not supplied are considered. The wind power generation and load forecasting uncertainties as well as the random outages of components are modeled as a scenario using proper scenario generation methods. The scenario reduction technique is also introduced to reduce the computational burden of the scenario-based design model. Finally, the proposed model is applied to a test case to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed approach.

TL;DR: The manipulation and encapsulation of curcumin into a nanocarrier formulation can overcome these major drawbacks and potentially may lead to a far superior therapeutic efficacy.
Abstract: Todays, nano-pharmaceutics is emerging as an important field of science to develop and improve efficacy of different drugs. Although nutraceuticals are currently being utilized in the prevention and treatment of various chronic diseases such as cancers, a number of them have displayed issues associated with their solubility, bioavailability, and bio-degradability. In the present review, we focus on curcumin, an important and widely used polyphenol, with diverse pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, anti-viral, etc. Notwithstanding, it also exhibits poor solubility and bioavailability that may compromise its clinical application to a great extent. Therefore, the manipulation and encapsulation of curcumin into a nanocarrier formulation can overcome these major drawbacks and potentially may lead to a far superior therapeutic efficacy. Among different types of nanocarriers, biological and biopolymer carriers have attracted a significant attention due to their pleiotropic features. Thus, in the present review, the potential protective and therapeutic applications of curcumin, as well as different types of bio-nanocarriers, which can be used to deliver curcumin effectively to the different target sites will be discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a reliability comparison is done between the conventional boost converter and the interleaved structure, and two different operation modes are defined for the Interleaved boost converter: half-power and full-power operation modes.
Abstract: Obviously for the correct operation of conventional boost converters, all components should work correctly. Interleaved boost converters having several stages, can be used to increase the reliability. So in this paper, a reliability comparison is done between the conventional boost converter and the interleaved structure. Two different operation modes are defined for the interleaved boost converter: half-power and full-power operation modes. The reliability calculation is based on the Markov model of the converters. The power loss effect of converter components on their failure rates, and therefore, on the reliability of converter has been assessed. For the first time different failure rates have been considered for different operation modes. Also a laboratory prototype of a two-stage interleaved boost dc–dc converter has been built up and the failure rate of components in different operation modes are calculated practically. Results show that in addition to other benefits, interleaved structure has higher reliability and as the power increases, there will be a decrease in the reliability.

TL;DR: Novel topologies for symmetric, asymmetric, and cascade switched-diode multilevel converter are proposed, which can produce many levels with minimum number of power electronic switches, gate driver circuits, power diodes, and dc voltage sources.
Abstract: In this paper, novel topologies for symmetric, asymmetric, and cascade switched-diode multilevel converter are proposed, which can produce many levels with minimum number of power electronic switches, gate driver circuits, power diodes, and dc voltage sources. The number of required power electronic switches against required voltage levels is a very important factor in designing of multilevel converter, because switches define the reliability, circuit size, cost, installation area, and control complexity. For asymmetric and cascade converter, new algorithms for determination of dc voltage sources values are presented. To produce maximum number of levels at the output voltage, the proposed cascade topology is optimized for different goals, such as the minimization of the number of power electronic switches, gate driver circuits, power diodes, dc voltage sources, and blocking voltage on switches. Comparison of the results of various multilevel converters will be investigated to reflect the merits of the presented topologies. The operations of the proposed multilevel converters have been analyzed with the experimental and simulation results for different topologies. Verification of the analytical results is done using MATLAB simulation.
