TL;DR: In this paper, a novel metaheuristic algorithm called Chaos Game Optimization (CGO) is developed for solving optimization problems and the obtained results proved that the CGO is superior compared to the other metaheuristics in most of the cases.
Abstract: In this paper, a novel metaheuristic algorithm called Chaos Game Optimization (CGO) is developed for solving optimization problems The main concept of the CGO algorithm is based on some principles of chaos theory in which the configuration of fractals by chaos game concept and the fractals self-similarity issues are in perspective A total number of 239 mathematical functions which are categorized into four different groups are collected to evaluate the overall performance of the presented novel algorithm In order to evaluate the results of the CGO algorithm, three comparative analysis with different characteristics are conducted In the first step, six different metaheuristic algorithms are selected from the literature while the minimum, mean and standard deviation values alongside the number of function evaluations for the CGO and these algorithms are calculated and compared A complete statistical analysis is also conducted in order to provide a valid judgment about the performance of the CGO algorithm In the second one, the results of the CGO algorithm are compared to some of the recently developed fractal- and chaos-based algorithms Finally, the performance of the CGO algorithm is compared to some state-of-the-art algorithms in dealing with the state-of-the-art mathematical functions and one of the recent competitions on single objective real-parameter numerical optimization named “CEC 2017” is considered as numerical examples for this purpose In addition, a computational cost analysis is also conducted for the presented algorithm The obtained results proved that the CGO is superior compared to the other metaheuristics in most of the cases

TL;DR: The concept of epigenetic changes in diseases, especially cancers, the role of these changes in the onset and progression of cancers and the potential of using this knowledge in designing novel therapeutic strategies are discussed.
Abstract: Epigenetic, along with genetic mechanisms, is essential for natural evolution and maintenance of specific patterns of gene expression in mammalians. Global epigenetic variation is inherited somatically and unlike genetic variation, it is dynamic and reversible. They are somatically associated with known genetic variations. Recent studies indicate the broad role of epigenetic mechanisms in the initiation and development of cancers, that they are including DNA methylation, histone modifications, nucleosomes changes, non-coding RNAs. The reversible nature of epigenetic changes has led to the emergence of novel epigenetic therapeutic approaches, so that several types of these medications have been approved by the FDA so far. In this review, we discuss the concept of epigenetic changes in diseases, especially cancers, the role of these changes in the onset and progression of cancers and the potential of using this knowledge in designing novel therapeutic strategies.

TL;DR: Probiotic fermented milk can be useful as a complementary or adjuvant therapy in the treatment of diabetes.
Abstract: Background: Diabetes is a global health problem in the world. Probiotic food has anti-diabetic property. The aim of this trial was to determine the effect of probiotic fermented milk (kefir) on glucose and lipid profile control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: This randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted on 60 diabetic patients aged 35 to 65 years.Patients were randomly and equally (n=30) assigned to consume either probiotic fermented milk (kefir) or conventional fermented milk (dough) for 8 weeks. Probiotic group consumed 600 ml/day probiotic fermented milk containing Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria and control group consumed 600 ml/day conventional fermented milk.Blood samples tested for fasting blood glucose, HbA1C, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol, HDL-C and LDL-C at the baseline and end of the study. Results: The comparison of fasting blood glucose between two groups after intervention was statistically significant (P=0.01). After intervention, reduced HbA1C compared with the baseline value in probiotic fermented milk group was statistically significant (P=0.001), also the HbA1C level significantly decreased in probiotic group in comparison with control group (P=0.02) adjusting for serum levels of glucose, baseline values of HbA1c and energy intake according to ANCOVA model. Serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and HDL- cholesterol levels were not shown significant differences between and within the groups after intervention. Conclusion: Probiotic fermented milk can be useful as a complementary or adjuvant therapy in the treatment of diabetes.

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of graphene reinforcement on the sintering process, microstructure, and mechanical properties (Vickers hardness and fracture toughness) of ZrB2-SiC composite is discussed.
Abstract: In this paper, the hot pressing of monolithic ZrB2 ceramic (Z), ZrB2–25 vol% SiC composite (ZS), as well as 5 wt% graphene reinforced ZrB2–25 vol% SiC composite (ZSG) is investigated. The hot pressing at 1850 1C for 60 min under a uniaxial pressure of 20 MPa resulted in a near fully-dense ZSG composite (499% relative density). In addition, the influence of graphene reinforcement on the sintering process, microstructure, and mechanical properties (Vickers hardness and fracture toughness) of ZrB2–SiC composite is discussed. It was disclosed that the grain growth of the ZrB2 matrix was effectively stopped by SiC particles and graphene nano-platelets. The fracture toughness of ZSG composite (6.4 MPa m 1/2 ) was strongly enhanced by incorporating the mentioned reinforcements into the ZrB2 matrix, which is higher than that of Z ceramic (1.8 MPa m 1/2 ) and ZS composite (4.3 MPa m 1/2 ). After the hot pressing process, the fractographical outcomes revealed that some graphene nano-platelets were kept in the composite microstructure, apart from SiC grains, which lead to the toughening of the composite through graphene nano-platelets wrapping and pull out, crack deflection, and crack bridging. & 2014 Elsevier B.V.
