TL;DR: In this article, the dominant rocks are basalts with geochemical characteristics distinct from those of mid-ocean ridge basalts and the presence of wood fragments, charcoal, pollen, spores and seeds in the shallow water sediments overlying the igneous basement show that the growth rate of the plateau was sufficient to form subaerial landmasses.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify five attributes of highperforming teams and argue that these attributes will promote board effectiveness, which in turn influence corporate financial performance, and find that most team effectiveness attributes are associated with higher levels of board effectiveness as rated by the board directors.
Abstract: Researchers have recently begun to integrate the literatures on corporate boards and team effectiveness in an effort to better understand how boards function and impact company performance. This study identifies five attributes of high-performing teams – knowledge, information, power, incentives and opportunity/time – and argues that these attributes will promote board effectiveness, which in turn influence corporate financial performance. These relationships are investigated using combined survey and archival sources of data for 210 Fortune 1000 companies. Findings indicate that most team effectiveness attributes are associated with higher levels of board effectiveness as rated by the board directors, and that board effectiveness is significantly related to corporate financial performance.

TL;DR: For instance, this paper found that adolescents who had lower levels of peer acceptance, number of friends, and friendship quality had higher teacher-reported maladjustment, while having high levels of friendship quality was an important buffer against adjustment problems.
Abstract: The unique contributions of peer acceptance, friendship, and victimization to adjustment were examined. How these relational systems moderate the influence of one another to influence adjustment was also investigated. Friendship quality, a unique aspect of friendship, was expected to be especially important for adjustment when other relational systems were poor. A total of 238 fifth to eighth graders (boys = 109) participated in the survey-style paradigm. Youth participants completed measures assessing their friendships and peer relationships. Teachers provided assessments of adjustment. Adolescents who had lower levels of peer acceptance, number of friends, and friendship quality had greater teacher-reported maladjustment. Friendship quality was also an important buffer against adjustment problems when peer acceptance and number of friends were low.The outcomes of this article suggest that an approach that includes examining the quality of adolescents’ friendships, peer interactions, and interactive models of relationship dimensions are informative for understanding adolescents’ general adjustment.

TL;DR: In this article, Dicationic ionic liquids have been shown to have superior thermal stabilities compared to traditional ILs while maintaining the same desirable solvation properties, and physical properties can be engineered by altering the cationic moieties, thereby forming unsymmetrical dicationic liquids.
Abstract: Dicationic ionic liquids have been shown to have superior thermal stabilities compared to traditional ILs while maintaining the same desirable solvation properties. Physical properties can be engineered by altering the cationic moieties, thereby forming unsymmetrical dicationic liquids. Melting points can be lowered by 141 °C and viscosities altered by 500%.

TL;DR: In this paper, the earliest Twitter messages regarding #OccupyWallStreet were subjected to network analysis to answer these questions: What were the central hubs in the OWS discourse on Twitter in the summer of 2011? How did OWS emerge from among several social movement organizations to lead a nationwide series of demonstrations? What were key points in the Twitter dialogue that aided the process of scale shift?
Abstract: Two months before the first Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protest in September 2011, activists were using Twitter to organize and spread the movement. In this study, the earliest Twitter messages regarding #OccupyWallStreet were subjected to network analysis to answer these questions: What were the central hubs in the OWS discourse on Twitter in the summer of 2011? How did OWS emerge from among several social movement organizations to lead a nationwide series of demonstrations? What were the key points in the Twitter dialogue that aided the process of scale shift? By addressing these questions, this research connects social movement concepts with network centrality measures to provide a clearer picture of movements in the digital era.
