TL;DR: Warming increased plant biomass and woody dominance, indirectly increased winter soil temperature, homogenized the soil trophic structure across horizons and suppressed surface-soil-decomposer activity, but did not change total soil carbon or nitrogen stocks, thereby increasing net ecosystem carbon storage.
Abstract: High latitudes contain nearly half of global soil carbon, prompting interest in understanding how the Arctic terrestrial carbon balance will respond to rising temperatures. Low temperatures suppress the activity of soil biota, retarding decomposition and nitrogen release, which limits plant and microbial growth. Warming initially accelerates decomposition, increasing nitrogen availability, productivity and woody-plant dominance. However, these responses may be transitory, because coupled abiotic-biotic feedback loops that alter soil-temperature dynamics and change the structure and activity of soil communities, can develop. Here we report the results of a two-decade summer warming experiment in an Alaskan tundra ecosystem. Warming increased plant biomass and woody dominance, indirectly increased winter soil temperature, homogenized the soil trophic structure across horizons and suppressed surface-soil-decomposer activity, but did not change total soil carbon or nitrogen stocks, thereby increasing net ecosystem carbon storage. Notably, the strongest effects were in the mineral horizon, where warming increased decomposer activity and carbon stock: a 'biotic awakening' at depth.

TL;DR: An analytical framework to assess an organization's logistics strategy, a systemic analytical model, will be utilized to evaluate logistics strategies for an organization that seeks to be adaptive to dynamic competitive environments.
Abstract: This paper explores and illustrates an analytical framework to assess an organization’s logistics strategy. The optimum logistical system is evaluated based on three primary levels: the organizational/supply chain relationship involved, the principles of logistics required, and the attributes of these principles. The principles of logistics are defined and developed as strategies for achieving coordination and integration of the logistics network and supply chain. The analytic network process, a systemic analytical model, will be utilized to evaluate logistics strategies for an organization that seeks to be adaptive to dynamic competitive environments.

TL;DR: A set of principles is identified to narrow the scope of the discussion and point to pragmatic approaches to help design and research learning experiences where important ethical and privacy issues are considered.
Abstract: The massive adoption of technology in learning processes comes with an equally large capacity to track learners. Learning analytics aims at using the collected information to understand and improve the quality of a learning experience. The privacy and ethical issues that emerge in this context are tightly interconnected with other aspects such as trust, accountability and transparency. In this paper, a set of principles is identified to narrow the scope of the discussion and point to pragmatic approaches to help design and research learning experiences where important ethical and privacy issues are considered. TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that limitations inherent in demographics-based TMT studies preclude their use in specifying how top managers influence their firms, and they suggest "next steps" for improving the usefulness of future top management team (TMT) studies by incorporating more substantive heterogeneity constructs, such as within-TMT power distributions, psychographic variances, and judgment differences.

TL;DR: In this paper, an independent b-tagging algorithm based on the reconstruction of muons inside jets as well as the b tagging algorithm used in the online trigger are also presented.
Abstract: The identification of jets containing b hadrons is important for the physics programme of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Several algorithms to identify jets containing b hadrons are described, ranging from those based on the reconstruction of an inclusive secondary vertex or the presence of tracks with large impact parameters to combined tagging algorithms making use of multi-variate discriminants. An independent b-tagging algorithm based on the reconstruction of muons inside jets as well as the b-tagging algorithm used in the online trigger are also presented. The b-jet tagging efficiency, the c-jet tagging efficiency and the mistag rate for light flavour jets in data have been measured with a number of complementary methods. The calibration results are presented as scale factors defined as the ratio of the efficiency (or mistag rate) in data to that in simulation. In the case of b jets, where more than one calibration method exists, the results from the various analyses have been combined taking into account the statistical correlation as well as the correlation of the sources of systematic uncertainty.
