TL;DR: How leaf traits related to leaf economy, mass loss during senescence and R EFF covary among species differing in resource use, and how they respond to nitrogen limitation is tested.
Abstract: 1. Leaf life span (LLS) is one of the traits involved in the leaf economics spectrum (ranging from fast acquisition to efficient conservation of resources). How it relates to nutrient resorption efficiency (R EFF ), another key component of resource conservation, is still under debate. Here we test how leaf traits related to leaf economy, mass loss during senescence and R EFF covary among species differing in resource use, and how they respond to nitrogen limitation. 2. Leaf traits were assessed for 18 species differing in successional status and in resource use, grown in a common-garden experiment under limiting and non-limiting N supply. 3. As expected, leaf traits and nutrient R EFF vary with species successional status: early successional species have high rates of resource acquisition with high specific leaf area and live-leaf phosphorus concentrations, whereas late successional species have an efficient nutrient conservation with long LLS and high nutrient R EEF . Leaf life span decreased under non-limiting N conditions, while nitrogen R EFF was unchanged. 4. Leaf mass loss can alter assessment of nutrient R EFF . Nutrient R EFF was controlled by nutrient concentration in dead leaves and hence represents a process, distinct from leaf longevity, that leads to resource conservation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of horizontal grid resolution on the performance of the regional three dimensional chemical transport model (CTM) PMCAMx was examined, and the results indicated that future work should combine high grid resolution with high resolution emissions, taking into consideration that the grid resolution is not currently the major source of the discrepancies between model predictions and observations.

01 Dec 2009TL;DR: The European Geoparks Network (EGN) as discussed by the authors was created in 2000 to provide a network within which to share information and expertise, and to define common tools in addressing the above objectives.
Abstract: Introduction In June 2000 representatives of four European territories, which had separately been promoting geological conservation and sustainable development, came together in Greece to discuss their common socioeconomic problems and how to address these problems through the protection of geological heritage and the promotion of geological tourism. The result was the signing of an agreement declaring the creation of the European Geoparks Network. The purpose of this new label was to provide a network within which to share information and expertise, and to define common tools in addressing the above objectives.

TL;DR: Examining the link between cultural dimensions of Web site users and their e-SQ expectations provides useful implications for users’ segmentation and Website globalization.
Abstract: Although e-service quality (e-SQ) is vital for online purchases and loyalty, and the Internet is global-izing services, limited knowledge exists regarding the impact of Web users’ cultural profiles on theirperceptions of e-SQ. Within the tourism industry, this is crucial as Web sites target multicultural usersand firms are trying to develop localized Web stores. This study addresses this gap by examining thelink between cultural dimensions of Web site users and their e-SQ expectations. Based on an exten-sive literature review, research hypotheses are formulated and then tested by gathering data from amultinational student body. Findings provide useful implications for users’ segmentation and Website globalization.Key words: Culture; Impact; Users; Web site; Design; Tourism
