TL;DR: It is proved that, if the recovery rate is less than or equal to a threshold value, the disease dies out, otherwise the infectious people density tends to a homogeneous distribution.
Abstract: We analyze the global behaviour of a vector disease model which involves spatial spread and hereditary effects. This model can be applied to investigate growth and spread of malaria. No immunization is considered. We prove that, if the recovery rate is less than or equal to a threshold value, the disease dies out, otherwise the infectious people density tends to a homogeneous distribution. Our results follow using contracting convexes techniques and agree with the results given by K. L. Cooke for the model without diffusion.

TL;DR: Perturbation theory results are obtained for the case of the two centre Lennard-Jones fluid by using a spherically averaged reference fluid as mentioned in this paper, although roughly correct, does not provide a quantitative description of the molecular structure.
Abstract: Perturbation theory results are obtained for the case of the two centre Lennard-Jones fluid by using a spherically averaged reference fluid. It is shown that the perturbation theory, although roughly correct, does not provide a quantitative description of the molecular structure.

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed study is made of vibrational dynamics in silver iodide by the temperature dependence of Raman scattering from liquid helium temperature up to melting, and it is shown that anomalous features of the Raman spectra are very likely due to the one-phonon density of states connected with the onset of partial disorder in the β-phase.
Abstract: A detailed study is made of vibrational dynamics in silver iodide by the temperature dependence of Raman scattering from liquid helium temperature up to melting. A complete set of data like temperature dependence of intensity of all features, of the degree of polarization of the spectra, of peak position and halfwidth clarifies the complex nature of dynamics of β-AgI. It is shown that the anomalous features of Raman spectra are very likely due to the one-phonon density of states connected with the onset of partial disorder in the β-phase. In α-phase an anomalous decrease of Raman cross section is found with increasing temperature: this effect is connected with the possibility of a continuous partial order-disorder transition at ≈ 430 °C.

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between trap-depth and Stokes shift in impurities with the sp electronic configuration is generalized and explained, and a new simple method is developed to estimate the Jahn-Teller coupling constants from spectroscopic and trap depth data.

Abstract: We present the radial correlation function and structure factor for two partially condensed states of a monatomic fluid in the coexistence region obtained by molecular-dynamics simulation. A comparison is made with the normal liquid structure.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered an anharmonic crystal described by variables and showed that δ,γ>0 and δ are suitable constants independent of Λ and Δ.
Abstract: We consider an anharmonic crystal described by variablesS x ,x∈ℤ d ,S x ∈ℝ, with one-body interaction ∼¦S x ¦ α and nearest neighbor (n.n.) two body interaction ∼¦S x −S y ¦β. We prove that, for Λ⊂ ℤ d bounded, Δ ⊂ Λ, whereρ Λ is the correlation function for the free boundary condition Gibbs state in Λ,γ>0 andδ are suitable constants independent of Λ and Δ. This generalizes previous results obtained in the caseα≥β.

TL;DR: In this paper, Fano's theory of configuration interaction has been extended to Jahn-Teller systems and homogeneous broadening and shift of the zero-phonon lines are directly connected with interlevel spin-orbit interaction and with the density of states of the interacting continuum.
Abstract: Fano's theory of configuration interaction has been extended to Jahn-Teller systems. Homogeneous broadening and shift of the zero-phonon lines are directly connected with interlevel spin-orbit interaction and with the density of states of the interacting continuum. Application to MgO: ${\mathrm{V}}^{2+}$ and ${\mathrm{Al}}_{2}$${\mathrm{O}}_{3}$: ${\mathrm{Cr}}^{3+}$ gives excellent agreement between theory and experiment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors generalized several well-known rank tests for location and for scale by raising the score generating functions of the tests to an exponent of oz. Asymptotic efficiencies of the resulting statistics are found relative to the tests for ax = 1, taking various densities.
Abstract: SUMMARY Several well-known rank tests for location and for scale are generalized by raising the score generating functions of the tests to an exponent oz. Asymptotic efficiencies of the resulting statistics are found relative to the tests for ax = 1, taking various densities. Furthermore we derive the distributions for which the new tests are locally most powerful.

TL;DR: In this article, an approximate expression for the moment of inertia theta in the framework of the cranked Hartree-Fock theory is derived, which allows for a detailed study of spin-orbit and two-body nuclear potentials.
Abstract: We derive an approximate expression for the moment of inertia theta in the framework of the cranked Hartree-Fock theory. Our method allows for a detailed study of the role of spin-orbit and two-body nuclear potentials. In particular it is shown that in /sup 20/Ne the two-body interaction lowers by 30% the rigid value of theta. The irrotational and rigid values for the moment of inertia are obtained as special cases of the present approach.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the construction of gravitation theories in the space of reference frames without assuming a priori the Lorentz invariance of the Lagrangian is presented.
Abstract: The recently proposed theories of gravitation in the space of reference framesS are based on a Lagrangian invariant with respect to the homogeneous Lorentz group. However, in theories of this kind, the Lorentz invariance is not a necessary consequence of some physical principles, as in the theories formulated in space-time, but rather a purely esthetic request. In the present paper, we give a systematic method for the construction of gravitational theories in the spaceS, without assuming a priori the Lorentz invariance of the Lagrangian. The Einstein-Cartan equations of gravitation are obtained requiring only that the Lagrangian is invariant under proper rotations and has particular transformation properties under space reflections and space-time dilatations

TL;DR: In this paper, the Neyman-Pearson lemma and scale parameter of the Cauchy distribution were used to test ρ in the bivariate normal population. But the Neymen-Pearman lemma was not applied to the scale parameter in this case.
Abstract: Here we propose two tests for testing ρ in the bivariate normal population assuming that the ratio of the variances in it is known. The first test (U.M.P.U.) is derived by using the Neyman-Pearson lemma, whereas the second test is obtained through testing the scale parameter of the Cauchy distribution. The powers of the first and second tests are compared with a well-known test, based on the sample correlation coefficient for small and large samples respectively.
