Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Indium selenide n-type substrates made from ordinary grade elements, are suitable to make heterojunctions with semitransparent platinum layers Those low-cost devices have photovoltaic efficiencies for solar energy conversion under 6%, at the present time They can be readily improved to reach external efficiencies in the 10% range as mentioned in this paper.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors postulate a detailed mechanism for catalytic isomerization of xylenes which explains the initial product distributions and also their previous finding that the reaction is intramolecular.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the glass-forming regions in the quaternary system GeSb-Te-Se have been obtained for quenching in air and for a constant cooling rate of 5°C min−1.

TL;DR: A model explains the competitive inhibition by β-carbolines compared to tryptamine and other aromatic amines that are monoamine oxidase substrates.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The structures of two sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Artemisia herba-alba subsp. valentina have been determined by spectroscopic methods as discussed by the authors.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the neutrino-nucleus inelastic cross sections and longitudinally polarized electron nucleus scattering in order to analyze the quantum number structure of weak neutral currents were analyzed.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: It seems that in conditions DNA:DNA reassociation does not occur, and the efficiency of hybridization is proportional to the denaturation extent of the DNA, however, the entire fraction of DNA which has been denatured is not available for hybridization.

TL;DR: Wall formation inSaccharomyces cerevisiae seems to be the result of two main patterns of wall material deposition: around the whole periphery of the cell in nonbudding ones and mainly at the tip of the daughter cell or at the cross wall that separates dividing cells.
Abstract: Wall formation inSaccharomyces cerevisiae seems to be the result of two main patterns of wall material deposition: (i) around the whole periphery of the cell in nonbudding ones, and (ii) mainly at the tip of the daughter cell or at the cross wall that separates dividing cells. This interpretation has been obtained following experiments in which RNA or protein synthesis has been inhibited. Under these conditions, glucan formation takes place, and wall thickening is probably due to the accumulation of this polysaccharide. Furthermore, once a pattern of wall deposition has been established, it is not modified by inhibition of RNA or protein synthesis.

TL;DR: In the middle of the sixteenth century under the direct influence of Vesalius's works there arose in Spain a movement devoted to the renewal of anatomical knowledge as discussed by the authors, which was one of the initial forces in the spread of the Vesalian reform, but in spite of that it has been almost completely ignored by specialized historical research.
Abstract: In the middle of the sixteenth-century under the direct influence of Vesalius's works there arose in Spain a movement devoted to the renewal of anatomical knowledge. It was one of the initial forces in the spread of the Vesalian reform, but in spite of that it has been almost completely ignored by specialized historical research.' The purpose of this article is to provide a general study of the movement with special emphasis on the conditions which determined its development. In the first place I should make it clear that the renewal in question did not arise from the relationship that Vesalius maintained throughout

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Two of the most well-known biochemistry textbooks do not provide a correct explanation of the mode of action of the isozymes M4 and H4 of lactate dehydrogenase.
