TL;DR: In this article, a transfer function intervention model is developed for forecasting daily electricity load from cooling and heating degree-days in Spain, and the influence of weather and seasonality is proved, and is significant even when the autoregressive effects and the dynamic specification of the temperature are taken into account.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have focused their attention on critically highlighting the latest developments achieved in the adsorptive removal of inorganic metal cations, inorganic acids, oxyanions/cations, nuclear wastes and other inorganic anions.
Abstract: Having access to clean water is a mandatory requirement for the proper development of living beings So, addressing the removal of contaminants from aquatic systems should be a priority research topic in order to restore ecosystem balance and secure a more sustainable future The fascinating structures and striking physical properties of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have revealed them as excellent platforms for the removal of harmful species from water In this review, we have focused our attention on critically highlighting the latest developments achieved in the adsorptive removal of inorganic – metal cations, inorganic acids, oxyanions/cations, nuclear wastes and other inorganic anions – and organic – pharmaceuticals and personal care products, artificial sweeteners and feed additives, agricultural products, organic dyes and industrial products – contaminants commonly found in wastewater using MOF technologies In particular, we have attempted to give a clear insight into the different synthetic strategies for water remediation, stressing the wide tunability of MOFs For this purpose, we have classified these two kinds of pollutants into different subfamilies, based on their chemical composition or common use Finally, we have proposed some future trends and challenges that need to be addressed for widening the range of applicability of MOFs and making solid headway towards sustainable development

TL;DR: An empirical nucleophilicity index based on the gas-phase ionization potentials has been recently shown to be useful categorizing and settling the nucleophilic power of a series of captodative ethylenes reacting in cycloaddition reactions.
Abstract: An empirical nucleophilicity index based on the gas-phase ionization potentials has been recently shown to be useful categorizing and settling the nucleophilicity power of a series of captodative ethylenes reacting in cycloaddition reactions (L.R. Domingo, E. Chamorro, P. Perez, Journal of Organic Chemistry 73 (2008) 4615–4624). In the present work, the applicability of such model is tested within a broader series of substituted alkenes, substituted aromatic compounds and simple nucleophilic molecules. This index obtained within a Koopman’s theorem framework has been evaluated here in both gas and solution phases for several well-known nucleophiles. These results are found to be linearly correlated. Finally, the feasibility of the predictive character of this index has been discussed in comparison to the available experimental nucleophilicities of some amines in water. These results further support and validate the usefulness of such approximation in the modeling of the global nucleophilicity.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of weather and non-weather variables on CO2 prices is studied. And the results show that the most emission intensive energy sources are the principal factors in the determination of CO2 price, and that only extreme temperatures influence them.
Abstract: One of the main objectives of the European Union Emission Trading Scheme is the establishment of a market price for allowances that show to European CO2 emitting installations the environmental impact of their polluting activities. The aim of this paper is to study the effect of those weather and non-weather variables that academic and market agents consider as the major determinants of CO2 prices. The results show that the most emission intensive energy sources are the principal factors in the determination of CO2 prices, and that only extreme temperatures influence them.

TL;DR: Slow magnetic relaxation effects were observed for 1 in the presence of a dc magnetic field, constituting the first example of field-induced single-molecule magnet behavior in a mononuclear six-coordinate Co(II) complex with a transverse anisotropy energy barrier.
Abstract: The novel mononuclear Co(II) complex cis-[CoII(dmphen)2(NCS)2]·0.25EtOH (1) (dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) features a highly rhombically distorted octahedral environment that is responsible for the strong positive axial and rhombic magnetic anisotropy of the high-spin CoII ion (D = +98 cm–1 and E = +8.4 cm–1). Slow magnetic relaxation effects were observed for 1 in the presence of a dc magnetic field, constituting the first example of field-induced single-molecule magnet behavior in a mononuclear six-coordinate Co(II) complex with a transverse anisotropy energy barrier.
