TL;DR: The MiniBooNE Collaboration observes unexplained electronlike events in the reconstructed neutrino energy range from 200 to 475 MeV, and the shape of the excess in several kinematic variables is consistent with being due to either nu_{e} and nu[over ]_{e] charged-current scattering or nu_{mu} neutral- current scattering with a photon in the final state.
Abstract: The MiniBooNE Collaboration observes unexplained electron-like events in the reconstructed neutrino energy range from 200 to 475 MeV. With 6.46 x 10{sup 20} protons on target, 544 electron-like events are observed in this energy range, compared to an expectation of 415.2 {+-} 43.4 events, corresponding to an excess of 128.8 {+-} 20.4 {+-} 38.3 events. The shape of the excess in several kinematic variables is consistent with being due to either {nu}{sub e} and {bar {nu}}{sub e} charged-current scattering or to {nu}{sub {mu}} neutral-current scattering with a photon in the final state. No significant excess of events is observed in the reconstructed neutrino energy range from 475 to 1250 MeV, where 408 events are observed compared to an expectation of 385.9 {+-} 35.7 events.

TL;DR: The selectivity and sensitivity of two colorimetric sensors based on the ruthenium complexes N719 and N749 are described, found that mercury ions coordinate reversibly to the sulfur atom of the dyes' NCS groups, which induces a color change in the dye groups at submicromolar concentrations of mercury.
Abstract: The selectivity and sensitivity of two colorimetric sensors based on the ruthenium complexes N719 [bis(2,2‘-bipyridyl-4,4‘-dicarboxylate)ruthenium(II) bis(tetrabutylammonium) bis(thiocyanate)] and ...

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that ultraviolet Raman spectroscopy is an effective technique to measure the transition temperature (Tc) in ferro electric ultrathin films and superlattices and reveals the essential roles of electrical and mechanical boundary conditions for nanoscale ferroelectricity.
Abstract: We demonstrated that ultraviolet Raman spectroscopy is an effective technique to measure the transition temperature (Tc) in ferroelectric ultrathin films and superlattices. We showed that one-unit-cell-thick BaTiO3 layers in BaTiO3/SrTiO3 superlattices are not only ferroelectric (with Tc as high as 250 kelvin) but also polarize the quantum paraelectric SrTiO3 layers adjacent to them. Tc was tuned by approximately 500 kelvin by varying the thicknesses of the BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 layers, revealing the essential roles of electrical and mechanical boundary conditions for nanoscale ferroelectricity.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the gamma gamma* > pi0 transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 4 to 40 GeV^2 with the BABAR detector at e+e-center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV.
Abstract: We study the reaction e+e- --> e+e-pi0 and measure the gamma gamma* --> pi0 transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 4 to 40 GeV^2. The analysis is based on 442 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity collected at PEP-II with the BABAR detector at e+e- center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV.
