TL;DR: The biological half-lives of 131I-labelled homologous IgG of colostral and serum origin were determined in two litters totalling 20 piglets with and without correction for increases in body mass.
Abstract: Summary The biological half-lives of 131I-labelled homologous IgG of colostral and serum origin were determined in two litters totalling 20 piglets with and without correction for increases in body mass. The half-lives of IgG in the blood were 8 days without the correction, but exceeded 20 days when corrected for body mass. There were practically no differences in the biological half-lives of serum and colostral IgG.

TL;DR: The present findings suggest that (i) the interspace is enriched in inhibitory vasoactive intestinal polypeptide-immunoreactive synapses as opposed to the excitatory thalamocortical input reaching the barrel hollow, and (ii) the spatial distribution of the vaso active intestinal polyPEptide system in the barrel cortex is closely associated with the neuronal organization of the sensory input and reacts with a considerable plasticity to lesion-induced changes of the input.

TL;DR: The most likely possibility for the findings in this bull were that the lymphadenitis was of hematogenous origin and that the abscess developed as a direct extension of the infectious process, similar to development of mesenteric abscesses in horses with chronic streptococcal infection (i.e., strangles).
Abstract: A 2-year-old bull was examined because of intermittent anorexia, signs of mild colic, and weight loss of 3 weeks' duration. A tympanitic resonance (ping) could be heard during simultaneous auscultation and percussion of the right paralumbar fossa, and a mass could be felt in the right dorsal quadrant of the abdominal cavity during palpation per rectum. Right flank laparotomy was performed, and intraoperative ultrasonography and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration were used to determine that the mass was an abscess. However, the abscess could not be removed or drained into the colon because of extensive adhesions to other organs. Because the owner refused to pursue continued medical treatment, the bull was euthanatized. At necropsy, the abscess was found to be connected to a caudal mesenteric lymph node through a fistula. Histologic evaluation of the lymph node revealed hyperplastic lymphadenitis, and an alpha-hemolytic streptococcus was recovered from the abscess fluid. The most likely possibility for the findings in this bull were that the lymphadenitis was of hematogenous origin and that the abscess developed as a direct extension of the infectious process, similar to development of mesenteric abscesses in horses with chronic streptococcal infection (i.e., strangles).

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional study design was used to collect 210 faecal samples of dogs from Nay Pyi Taw area, Myanmar and according to microscopic examination, 180 samples (85.7%) were positive for eight species of gastrointestinal helminths.
Abstract: Dogs may serve as hosts for a variety of zoonotic or potentially zoonotic helminths, including Ancylostoma ceylanicum and Trichuris species. Cross-sectional study design was used to collect 210 faecal samples of dogs from Nay Pyi Taw area, Myanmar. According to microscopic examination, 180 samples (85.7%) were positive for eight species of gastrointestinal helminths. Among them, positive rates of Ancylostoma species and Trichuris species eggs were observed as 79.0% (166/210) and 11.9% (15/210), respectively. Molecular identification of A. ceylanicum and Trichuris species was confirmed by COX1 gene– and SSU rRNA gene–targeted PCR. Partial sequences of COX1 and SSU rRNA showed 100% identity with A. ceylanicum, Trichuris trichiura, and Trichuris vulpis deposited in GenBank.
