TL;DR: The relationship between output, factor demands, and income and the decomposition of these relationships into separate effects as suggested by the structure of a social accounting matrix are examined in this paper.
Abstract: The relationship between output, factor demands, and income and the decomposition of these relationships into separate effects as suggested by the structure of a social accounting matrix are examined. The best analytical approach for examining these relationships uses a model that starts with a social accounting matrix, and hence, with a structure of an economy at some base date. The methodology contains accounting multipliers that give insight into the anatomy of the social accounting matrix. In addition, the multipliers examine transfer effects and the full circular and cross effects between different parts of the economy. The model shows how the structure of production and income distribution are interrelated and how they derive from the structure of exogenous demand and the distribution of assets. Analysis of the social accounting matrix and the accounting multipliers shows the extent to which initial structure is important in determining the impact of changes in demand. The fixed price multiplier approach could be extended to embrace the interaction of price changes and shifts in exogenuous demand. Equations and matrix values are provided. 17 references.

TL;DR: Two Escherichia coli genes required for the export of cofactor‐containing periplasmic proteins, synthesized with signal peptides containing a twin arginine motif are identified, indicating the involvement of the gene products in a novel export system.
Abstract: We describe the identification of two Escherichia coli genes required for the export of cofactor-containing periplasmic proteins, synthesized with signal peptides containing a twin arginine motif. Both gene products are homologous to the maize HCF106 protein required for the translocation of a subset of lumenal proteins across the thylakoid membrane. Disruption of either gene affects the export of a range of such proteins, and a complete block is observed when both genes are inactivated. The Sec protein export pathway was unaffected, indicating the involvement of the gene products in a novel export system. The accumulation of active cofactor-containing proteins in the cytoplasm of the mutant strains suggests a role for the gene products in the translocation of folded proteins. One of the two HCF106 homologues is encoded by the first gene of a four cistron operon, tatABCD, and the second by an unlinked gene, tatE. A mutation previously assigned to the hcf106 homologue encoded at the tatABCD locus, mttA, lies instead in the tatB gene.

TL;DR: The synthesis of novel well-defined alkyne side chain functional polymers featuring narrow molecular weight distributions (PDI = 1.09-1.17) by living radical polymerization is described, providing an extremely powerful tool for the synthesis of libraries of materials that differ only in the nature of the sugar moiety presented on a well- defined polymer scaffold.
Abstract: The synthesis of novel well-defined alkyne side chain functional polymers featuring narrow molecular weight distributions (PDI = 1.09−1.17) by living radical polymerization is described. Grafting of protected and unprotected carbohydrates is achieved via either a C-6 or an anomeric azide (α or β) onto these polymers by Cu(I)-catalyzed “click chemistry”, providing a simple and efficient route to synthetic glycopolymers. The strategy provides an extremely powerful tool for the synthesis of libraries of materials that differ only in the nature of the sugar moiety presented on a well-defined polymer scaffold. A library of multivalent ligands were then prepared following a “coclicking” synthetic protocol, and the reactivity of these glycopolymers in the presence of concanavalin A and Ricinus communis agglutinin, model lectins able to selectively bind appropriate mannose and galactose derivatives, respectively, was assessed.

TL;DR: This article examined the direction of the relationships between trait gratitude, perceived social support, stress, and depression during a life transition and found that gratitude seems to directly foster social support and to protect people from stress and depression.
