TL;DR: The coronavirus crisis is an existential crisis of humanity and society as mentioned in this paper, it radically confronts humans with death and the fear of death and can result in new forms of solidarity and socialism or can on the other hand, if ideology and the far-right prevail, advance war and fascism.
Abstract: The coronavirus crisis is an existential crisis of humanity and society. It radically confronts humans with death and the fear of death. This collective experience can on the one hand result in new forms of solidarity and socialism or can on the other hand, if ideology and the far-right prevail, advance war and fascism. Political action and political economy are decisive factors in such a profound crisis that shatters society and everyday life.

TL;DR: In 2003, the UK government published proposals for a civil partnership registration scheme for same-sex couples that would confer almost all the legal rights and responsibilities of marriage in the UK as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: In June 2003 the UK government published proposals for a civil partnership registration scheme for same-sex couples that would confer almost all the legal rights and responsibilities of marriage. The paper discusses its provisions in the context of the debates on same-sex marriage over the past decade and argues that they hardly represent any advance on existing rights and that same-sex marriage will inevitably be won in the UK. The author herself is unenthusiastic about marriage, and concludes that lesbians and gay men should not let themselves be assimilated into a heterosexual model, but should draw attention to the potential for our relationships to act as better models for all relationships, inside or outside marriage. Abstract: Health professionals everywhere are working with a more damaged, more dependent and more demanding clientele than in the past: in wealthier countries resulting most obviously from the number of older people living longer with chronic, complex and multiple problems; in poorer countries from the number of families at the mercy of infant mortality, malnutrition, the killer childhood diseases and the HIV pandemic (WHO, 2009)

TL;DR: It is argued that the rapid development of Java technology now makes it possible to support, in a single object-oriented framework, the different communication and coordination structures that arise in scientific applications.
Abstract: In this article, we argue that the rapid development of Java technology now makes it possible to support, in a single object-oriented framework, the different communication and coordination structures that arise in scientific applications. We outline how this integrated approach can be achieved, reviewing in the process the state-of-the-art in communication paradigms within Java. We also present recent evaluation results indicating that this integrated approach can be achieved without compromising on performance.
