TL;DR: In this paper, the important factors involved in the design of molecular beam sources (flux uniformity, crucible volume, temperature stability and reproducibility, furnace and crucible materials, heat shielding, source baffling, and shutters) and substrate holders (temperature stability, reproduction, and uniformity) are investigated.

TL;DR: In this paper, two tetranortriterpenoids, obtained from the trunkwood of Carapa guianensis, were shown to be 11β-acetoxygedunin (I) and 6α,11β-diacetoxygedin (II) by a detailed analysis of their NMR spectra and their base-catalysed conversion respectively into the lactones III and IV.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for presenting cathode emission data has been developed which yields cathode performance curves in a convenient form for the cathode engineer, design engineer, and end user.
Abstract: A method for presenting cathode emission data has been developed which yields cathode performance curves in a convenient form for the cathode engineer, design engineer, and end user. The curves provide important diagnostic information not previously available which characterizes cathode emission performance over the entire range of operation and indicates defects in device fabrication. Direct comparisons of measurements on cathodes of various size and vehicle configuration are possible due to the normalized form of the performance curves. Construction of the curves and their interpretation are discussed.

TL;DR: An ion source for an intense ion beam from a solid source is formed with a cathode around a central anode as mentioned in this paper, where the most intense region of the magnetic field is a torus on the inside of the cathode and the field at the anode is weak.
Abstract: An ion source for an intense ion beam from a solid source is formed with a cathode around a central anode. A source of magnetic field with closely spaced poles is formed around a central region of the cathode so that the most intense region of the magnetic field is a torus on the inside of the cathode and the field at the anode is weak. A torus of plasma can be formed near the inside surface of the cathode which can be coated with solid source material. An ion beam can be extracted through an aperture in the cathode.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of collimation on the angular distributions of deposited atoms and predict the film coverage and deposition rate changes for both titanium and aluminum was studied experimentally and theoretically using a Monte Carlo vapor transport simulation, SIMSPUD.
