22 Sep 1983TL;DR: In this paper, a method for reducing contamination in a vacuum processing chamber includes introducing into the vacuum chamber a gas selected to react with the contaminant and form a compound more volatile than the contaminants.
Abstract: A method for reducing contamination in a vacuum processing chamber includes introducing into the vacuum chamber a gas selected to react with the contaminant and form a compound more volatile than the contaminant. The volatile compound is then removed from the vacuum chamber, typically by vacuum pumping. In one embodiment, the vacuum chamber is an ion implantation chamber, the contaminant is phosphorous and the gas is water vapor, which reacts with the phosphorous to form phosphine gas or other high vapor pressure phosphorous-containing substances.

25 Jan 1982TL;DR: In this article, a window material is used to reduce the dispersion of the beam between the optical fiber and detectors or transmitters in order to improve the efficiency of coupling between optical fibers.
Abstract: Optic-electronic assembly for substantially improving the efficiency of coupling between optical fibers is small core (10) and detectors and transmitters (29) of small area. The assembly includes a housing (32) containing an active opto-electronic device (29) and a window for transmitting the light (20). The window (20) closes the box of waterproof manner and physically protects the device (29) of the environment. The window (20) is thin, preferably less than 6 mm, and possesses a higher refractive index than conventional glass windows, of higher preference to 2, in order to reduce the dispersion of the beam between the optical fiber (10) and detectors or transmitters (29). The window material is preferably a single crystal of GaP.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors combined the GENOA interactive computer program and two-dimensional double quantum coherence 13C NMR spectroscopy to solve structure elucidation problems with three examples.
Abstract: The effectiveness and utility of the combined use of the interactive computer program GENOA and two-dimensional double quantum coherence 13C NMR spectroscopy to solve structure elucidation problems are demonstrated with three examples. The substructural information inferred from the 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra was insufficient to identify the structures of the example compounds. However, with the additional substructural information available from the two-dimensional NMR experiment (which identifies directly bonded carbon atoms), the problems were solved in an extremely efficient manner.

26 Jun 1970TL;DR: In this article, a digitally tuned microwave microstrip oscillator is described, which includes a resonant section of the stripline having a Gunn diode connected between the ground plane and ground plane at a low impedance point and having one or more tuning capacitors connected via p-i-n diodes between a high voltage portion of the resonator and the ground planes.
Abstract: A digitally tuned microwave microstrip oscillator is disclosed. The oscillator includes a resonant section of stripline having a Gunn diode connected between the stripline and ground plane at a low impedance point and having one or more tuning capacitors connected via p-i-n diodes between a high voltage portion of the stripline resonator and the ground plane. Means are provided for selectively biasing one or more of the p-i-n diodes to a conductive state for switching one or more of the tuning capacitors across the resonant stripline for digitally tuning the resonator and oscillator in discrete frequency steps according to the switched condition of the diodes.
