TL;DR: In this paper, a coupled cavity slow wave circuit and a microwave tube using same are disclosed, where a plurality of generally radially directed coupling slots are cut through the common wall between adjacent resonators to form angularly aligned arrays of coupling slots angularly displaced around the beam path, each array of slots includes means for interrupting the flow of electrons through the slots such as a blocking member or the slots are staggered or offset in radial or angular position.
Abstract: A coupled cavity slow wave circuit, such as a cloverleaf circuit, and a microwave tube using same are disclosed. The slow wave circuit includes an array of cavity resonators arranged successively along the beam path with adjacent ones of the cavities having a common end wall structure. A plurality of generally radially directed coupling slots are cut through the common wall between adjacent resonators to form a plurality of axially aligned arrays of coupling slots angularly displaced around the beam path. Each array of slots is angularly displaced about the beam path from the adjacent array by (360/N) degrees where N is the number of axially aligned arrays of slots. Each axially aligned array of coupling slots includes means for interrupting the flow of electrons through the slots such as a blocking member or the slots are staggered or offset in radial or angular position such as to block off a line-of-sight path parallel to the beam through at least a portion of each array of coupling slots to inhibit cumulative electromagnetic interaction between undesired beamlets in the arrays of slots and the fields of the slow wave circuit, whereby the efficiency and stability of the tube are increased.

TL;DR: In this paper, the mathematical methods developed by Jaynes are applied to the study of nuclear resonance in inhomogeneous magnetic fields and a description of delayed-signal phenomena such as spin echoes is greatly simplified by the use of the spinor representation involving 2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2 transformation matrices.
Abstract: The mathematical methods developed by Jaynes are applied to the study of nuclear resonance in inhomogeneous magnetic fields. It is shown that a description of delayed-signal phenomena such as spin echoes is greatly simplified by the use of the spinor representation involving 2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2 transformation matrices. The original results of Hahn on spin echoes are rederived in simplified fashion and more complicated situations are discussed, including large numbers of pulses, exact time dependence in extremely inhomogeneous fields, and continuous pulse trains. Several previously unreported types of delayed-signal phenomena are discussed and illustrated experimentally by oscilloscope traces. The apparatus used to study nuclear induction in very inhomogeneous fields is briefly discussed.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated here that dramatic changes in toxin composition do occur in one isolate of Alexandrium fundyense, and in nitrogen- and phosphorus-limited semi-continuous cultures, toxin composition varied systematically with growth rate.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the EPR spectra from very slowly tumbling nitroxide radicals have been found to be sensitive in shape to the molecular motion, even though they are substantially identical with that from a rigid powder.
