TL;DR: Ultrafiltration with 50 kDa pore size and 20 psi pressure was found to be the best method for clarification of jamun juice having a prolong shelf life with optimum qualities.
Abstract: Ultrafiltration is one of the types of clarification process that was undertaken in this study together with examining and comparing the storage period of clarified juice by other methods (enzymatically treated, centrifugation, microfiltration). Centrifugation, ultrafiltration and microfiltration of jamun juice was carried out using a laboratory scale refrigerated centrifuge and filtration system. The juices obtained from various processes were evaluated on the basis of their physiochemical and microbial aspects over a period of 8 weeks. Enzyme treated and centrifuged juices were found to be degraded within 15–30 days while other juices had lesser changes in their properties. However microfiltered juice contained some yeasts and molds which increased with time. Ultrafiltration with 50 kDa pore size and 20 psi pressure was found to be the best method for clarification of jamun juice having a prolong shelf life with optimum qualities.

TL;DR: The role of AHL and other low-molecular-mass signal molecules involvement of in swarming motility of bacteria is emphasized and allowed harmonization of cell density wide activities.
Abstract: Bacteria produce and sense chemical signal molecules, communicate with closet neighbors. Chemical signals are diverse and comprise cyclic and linear peptides, short and long chain γ-quinolones, N-acyl-homoserine lactones (AHL) and unsaturated fatty acids. These signaling molecules are collectively called autoinducers. Certain signals are readily diffusible small molecules, while others are hydrophobic and can be vesicle or membrane -associated. Several chemical signals are vastly genus or species specific, while LuxS gene product furanosyl borate diester, a more universally synthesized and recognized molecule. It is assumed that bacteria use these auto inducer molecules not only to identify their neighbors and cell density, but also to govern some aspects of their environment, such as confinement and diffusion. In a broad sense, quorum sensing allows harmonization of cell density wide activities, together with virulence factor production, biofilm dynamics, bioluminescence and swarming motility on surfaces. Swarming motility is a flagella-driven movement of bacterial cells through it can spread as a biofilm over a surface. Different chemical signals produced either by bacteria (AHL) may persuade the QS regulated swarming activities in bacteria. This review emphasizes the role of AHL and other low-molecular-mass signal molecules involvement of in swarming motility of bacteria.

TL;DR: The performance of faculty members is evaluated on the basis of different parameters taken for assessment and predicted by building models using data mining techniques, which yields better accuracy than other three standard kernels.
Abstract: In recent years, higher education has been gaining importance in graduate students to make successful careers. So, academic organizations are given utmost importance for quality in academics to build the careers of the students. Faculty performance plays a vital role in academic institutions. In this paper, the performance of faculty members is evaluated on the basis of different parameters are taken for assessment and predicted by building models using data mining techniques. In this evaluation, the sample data is collected, preprocessed, and model learning is done using Support vector machines (SVM) with several kernel methods such as linear, sigmoid, radial basis, polynomial and Pearson VII function-based universal kernel (PUKF). The idea of this proposed paper is to investigate and analyze by considering various parameters for predicting the performance of faculty. The parameters considered are Faculty profile, Quality of Teaching, Maintaining Relationships, Learning Assessment, Counseling and Mentoring, Administrative Functions, Research and Development, Organizational Qualities and Outcome. Performance of various kernels is evaluated with the data and models with SVM-PUKF yields better accuracy by 97.84% when compared with other three standard kernels.

TL;DR: The bacteria foraging algorithm (BFA) has the advantages of the faster convergence and the global search approach to increase the performance in design and decrease the cost of the STHE system.
Abstract: Shell and tube heat exchanger (STHE) is widely used in the industries for various purposes due to its capacity to withstand pressure. STHE has the drawback of more cost and lower efficiency. Many existing methods involve in applying the optimization technique to decrease the cost of the system. Existing method has the lower efficiency in the optimization due to the random initialization and poor convergence. This research applies the bacteria foraging algorithm (BFA) to increase the efficiency and decrease the cost of the STHE system. The BFA has the advantages of the faster convergence and the global search approach to increase the performance in design. The proposed BFA is evaluated in the two case studies and compared with the existing method. The proposed BFA in multi-objective optimization of STHE has the total cost of 41,464 €, while existing method has the total cost of 41,913 €. The proposed BFA method also achieved high heat efficiency coefficient of 1089, and the existing method has 1031.47.
