TL;DR: The design took advantage of converting the small linear displacement of the SMA wire into a large linear elastic motion under the influence of biasing element, and represents a significant development in the design of SMA actuator configurations for linear actuation.
Abstract: Motors are nearly the sole constituents for actuation and driving applications, but there exist cases where their use proves to be impractical. Shape memory alloy (SMA), then revolutionized the actuator technology, thereby opening the door for new ideas and designs and with it what seemed unfeasible in the past have now become challenging. Many conventional actuators and sensors could be substituted with SMA, obtaining advantages in terms of reduction of weight, dimensions and its cost. SMAs are a group of metallic materials that revert to a predefined shape via phase transformation induced by a thermal procedure. Unlike metals that exhibit thermal expansion, SMA exhibits contraction when heated, which is larger by a hundredfold and exerts tremendous force for its small size. The focus of this work is to realize SMA wire as actuator which finds suitable applications (space, aerospace, biomechanics, etc.) where minimizing space, weight and cost are prime objectives. The accomplishments reported in this paper represent a significant development in the design of SMA actuator configurations for linear actuation. Report on design, fabrication and characterisation of the proposed system is presented. The design took advantage of converting the small linear displacement of the SMA wire into a large linear elastic motion under the influence of biasing element. From the results with control it is aspired that with further improvements on the design, the actuator can be utilized in enabling practical SMA technologies for potential robotic and commercial applications. © (2015) COPYRIGHT Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). TL;DR: Preliminary results clearly suggest that tunicamycin might promote metastasis of gastrointestinal cancers in preclinical or clinical setting and demonstrate a positive correlation between TUN and cell migration, cell invasion, and proliferation.
Abstract: Endoplasmic reticular stress (ERS) has been well-documented in escalating metastasis in clinical conditions. There has been a debate on its role in cancer portraying it as a double-edged sword. However, there is no evidence of increased cell migration and cell invasion under increased ERS by tunicamycin (TUN) 10 μg/mL. In this study, we treated colonic epithelial cells (LS174T cells)withTUN and measured cell proliferation (by Ki67+ assay), cell migration and cell invasion at the 6th hour specifically. Our results have demonstrated a positive correlation between TUN and cell migration, cell invasion, and proliferation. TUN treatment has significantly escalated cell invasion, migration and proliferation in LS174T cells at 6th hour time point making it aggressive. These preliminary results clearly suggest thatTUN might promote metastasis of gastrointestinal cancers in preclinical or clinical setting.

TL;DR: This chapter explores fast data and big data with IoT streaming analytics, which permits the processing of terabytes of data in memory.
Abstract: Big data depicts information volume – petabytes to exabytes in organized, semi-organized, and unstructured information that can possibly be broken down for data. Fast data are facts streaming into applications and computing environments from hundreds of thousands to millions of endpoints. Fast data is totally different from big data. There is no question that we will continue generating large volumes of data, especially with the wide variety of handheld units and internet-connected devices expected to grow exponentially. Data streaming analytics is vital for disruptive applications. Streaming analytics permits the processing of terabytes of data in memory. This chapter explores fast data and big data with IoT streaming analytics.

TL;DR: The computational analysis of face recognition system is explained and emphasizes the accuracies and constraints of the images.
Abstract: Face recognition is the essential security system, which is subjected to get more scrutiny in recent years especially in the field of research and also in industry. This study addresses the various approaches for recognizing face back on neural network by adopting convolutional neural network (CNN). The study has done on different techniques of face alignment, preprocessing techniques, and also in the size of the face images. This paper explains the computational analysis of face recognition system and emphasizes the accuracies and constraints of the images. The predominant face alignment approaches used are Dlib and constrained local model (CLM). For training, Tan-Triggs preprocessing technique is used in face image size of 96 × 96 and 64 × 64. The face recognition grand challenge (FRGC) dataset is used for the analysis, and it produced the accuracy of range from 90 to 98.30% on corresponding approaches.
