Abstract: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have the feasibility to connect the physical world with the virtual world by framing a network of sensors. The supreme function of a sensor network is to collect and forward data to the destination. Applications based on WSNs needs location knowledge about randomly deployed nodes. Localization of these nodes is the basic problem in WSNs. Several types of research have been done so far, using various strategies to improve the network performance as well as energy efficiency and communications effectiveness of WSNs. Among the strategies used, algorithms inspired by natural behaviours of a group of organisms like butterflies, fireflies, grey wolf, etc., showed higher efficiency in locating the nodes. In this survey, some of the inherent nature inspired localization algorithms are briefly discussed. Also, some other collective behaviours which can be used to develop localization algorithms are also explained.

Abstract: The Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is the first step in reducing the environmental impacts of automobile use without losing comfort, performance and extended driving range. The success of the transition to Hybrid Vehicles depends on battery capabilities, converter system and cost. This paper proposes a new isolated Dual bridge Four-level pulse width modulated dc-dc converter (DBPWMC) with small inductance and no dead time operation for Energy storage system (composed of several Batteries) of Electric/ Hybrid Electric Vehicle. With no dead time operation, energy is continuously transmitted from input DC source to Battery in whole switching period, which causes lower input ripple current and hence the smaller size input filter. Detailed analysis shows the proposed converter can have either lower voltage stress on all primary side power switches or soft switching properties when different driving schemes are applied. The 48V/100-W DC - DC to converter with PWM oscillator with a frequency of 20 KHz has been tested for the verification of the principle. The simulation and experimental results ensure the feasibility and advantages of the new approach.

Abstract: Most of the speech communication applications viz. telephony, hands-free communication, voice recording, automatic speech recognition, interactive voice response system, human-machine interfaces, etc. that require at least one microphone, desired speech signal is usually contaminated by background noise and reverberation. As a result, the speech signal has to be “cleaned” with digital signal processing tools before it is played out, transmitted, or stored. The noise estimation and reduction techniques will help to clean and attenuate the noise component in speech data, known as Speech Enhancement. In this paper, we recorded the speech in different environmental conditions and estimated the noise signal/background noise distribution in speech. Now the speech is enhanced by using the compliment of Weiner-Hopf optimal filter. And this enhanced speech signal is given for training and testing the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system, which will improve the word accuracy. The analysis of speech and results presented in this paper are produced using MATLAB.
