TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an exhaustive overview of different aspects of ultrasound assisted extraction of various natural products and provide recommendations for optimum operating conditions have been reported for maximizing the yield.
Abstract: Extraction of active chemical compounds from natural products is one of the most important research areas for pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Traditional techniques used for the solvent extraction of natural products are associated with longer extraction times and lower yields, use of large amount of organic solvents and poor extraction efficiency. Ultrasound can be effectively used to improve the extraction rate by increasing the mass transfer rates and possible rupture of cell wall due to formation of microcavities leading to higher product yields with reduced processing time and solvent consumption. The present work presents an exhaustive overview of different aspects of ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE) of various natural products. Mechanism of UAE has been discussed and recommendations for optimum operating conditions have been reported for maximizing the yield. An overview of different applications of UAE has been also presented. Possible intensification of UAE by coupling with traditional solvent and supercritical extraction processes has also been discussed. Overall it appears that ultrasonic irradiations can be effectively used for intensification of the extraction of important constituents from natural products.

TL;DR: This paper attempts to address the literature review of PID control in an era of control system and bio-medical applications by surveying the development of classical PID to the integration of intelligent control to it.
Abstract: This article provides a study of modern and classical approaches used for PID tuning and its applications in various domains. Most of the control systems that are implemented to date with the use of PID control because of its simple structure, ease of implementation, and active research in tuning the PID for a long time. The techniques reviewed in the paper are in the order from classical to modern optimization rules used for the PID tuning. This paper attempts to address the literature review of PID control in an era of control system and bio-medical applications. The development of classical PID to the integration of intelligent control to it, has been surveyed by consideration of various application domains. The primary purpose of this document is to provide a detailed point of information for the people to understand the command of PID in different application areas.

TL;DR: This work proposes hybrid forward selection technique for cardiovascular disease diagnosis and demonstrates that this approach finds smaller subsets and increases the accuracy of diagnosis compared to forward inclusion and back-elimination techniques.
Abstract: Machine learning has emerged as an effective medical diagnostic support system. In a medical diagnosis problem, a set of features that are representative of all the variations of the disease are necessary. The objective of our work is to predict more accurately the presence of cardiovascular disease with reduced number of attributes. We investigate intelligent system to generate feature subset with improvement in diagnostic performance. Features ranked with distance measure are searched through forward inclusion, forward selection and backward elimination search techniques to find subset that gives improved classification result. We propose hybrid forward selection technique for cardiovascular disease diagnosis. Our experiment demonstrates that this approach finds smaller subsets and increases the accuracy of diagnosis compared to forward inclusion and back-elimination techniques.

TL;DR: In this paper, the state of the art from 1970s of machine printed and handwritten Devanagari optical character recognition (OCR) is discussed in various sections of the paper.
Abstract: In India, more than 300 million people use Devanagari script for documentation. There has been a significant improvement in the research related to the recognition of printed as well as handwritten Devanagari text in the past few years. State of the art from 1970s of machine printed and handwritten Devanagari optical character recognition (OCR) is discussed in this paper. All feature-extraction techniques as well as training, classification and matching techniques useful for the recognition are discussed in various sections of the paper. An attempt is made to address the most important results reported so far and it is also tried to highlight the beneficial directions of the research till date. Moreover, the paper also contains a comprehensive bibliography of many selected papers appeared in reputed journals and conference proceedings as an aid for the researchers working in the field of Devanagari OCR.
