01 Mar 1973TL;DR: In this paper, it is suggested that these periodic structures arise from spinodal decomposition and the experimental activation energy for the coarsening of the modulated structures is approximately 48 kcal/ mole.
Abstract: Electron transmission microscopy and diffraction have revealed directly the fine-scale precipitation processes and the mechanism of formation of the periodic microstructures which characterize the decomposition of Cu-Ti “sideband” alloys. The initial stages of decomposition involve the development of «100» compositional waves giving rise to the well-known sideband or satellite reflections along the «100» directions. This «wave-like» clustering producing a triaxially modulated structure involves the formation of two disordered phases; ordering does not accompany the initial clustering. Prolonged aging produces a periodic array of interpenetrating rods along the «100» directions of the matrix. During aging the periodic structures coarsen according to a t1/3 law. The experimental activation energy for the coarsening of the modulated structures is approximately 48 kcal/ mole. Maximum strength is associated with the formation of the transition phase β’ which forms byin situ transformation of the titanium-rich regions; this transformation is not accompanied by a loss of coherency in the modulated structures at the aging temperatures studied in this investigation. It is suggested that these periodic structures arise from spinodal decomposition.

30 Sep 1974TL;DR: In this article, a monitoring system for off-site monitoring, traffic study and/or trouble shooting of elevator installations is presented, where a direct dial telephone link is established between the remote monitoring site and a selected elevator installation.
Abstract: A monitoring system for off-site monitoring, traffic study and/or trouble shooting of elevator installations. Communication between the remote monitoring site and a selected elevator installation is established via a direct dial telephone link. The remote monitoring site includes visual display means for displaying the operation of the selected elevator installation in real time, means for storing and analyzing status signals from the elevator installation, as well as for printing out the results of such an analysis, and control means for entering commands to be executed by the elevator system. In addition to observing the operation of the complete elevator installation, any combination of software and/or hardware at the elevator installation may be selectively monitored by substituting a system processor and/or simulated car controllers, both of which are located at the monitoring site, for those located at the elevator installation, and operating selected components at the elevator installation along with those at the monitoring site via the communication link. The operation of the resulting hybrid system including its response to commands initiated at the monitoring site may be displayed and/or analyzed, as desired.

TL;DR: Programmed-waveform pulsewidth modulated (PWM) waveforms, applicable to ac-dc/dc-ac converters, are synthesized and analyzed in terms of several structural parameters.
Abstract: Programmed-waveform pulsewidth modulated (PWM) waveforms, applicable to ac-dc/dc-ac converters, are synthesized and analyzed in terms of several structural parameters. By invoking sensitivity studies and heuristics, optimal PWM structures are identified and contrasted. The results show total harmonic performance as a function of switching levels, waveform types, commutations per cycle, and filter bandpass.
