16 Dec 1988TL;DR: An automatic pump protection system is comprised of a plurality of sensors for measuring process parameters indicative of a loss of pump suction or of pump motor failure as discussed by the authors, and the microprocessor then automatically initiates pump protective action in response to the foregoing analysis by tripping the pump or providing an alternate suction source.
Abstract: An automatic pump protection system is comprised of a plurality of sensors for measuring process parameters indicative of a loss of pump suction or of pump motor failure. Analysis of the parameters is performed by a microprocessor in order to determine whether conditions leading to a loss of pump suction or pump motor failure are present. The microprocessor then automatically initiates pump protective action in response to the foregoing analysis by tripping the pump or by providing an alternate suction source.

23 Oct 1974TL;DR: In this paper, a metal current collector is molded into the composite to form a substantially flat hydrophilic layer, which is then laminated to the hydrophobic layer to complete the air electrodes of the invention.
Abstract: Air electrodes for use in electrochemical energy cells which comprise a hydrophilic layer and a hydrophobic layer laminated thereto. The hydrophilic layer essentially comprises a hydrophilic composite which includes I. an oxygen absorption/reduction carbon, Ii. a material selected from the group consisting of A. CuWO 4 , NiWO 4 , CoWO 4 and WC with 1-20 wt. % Co. for a unifunctional electrode, or B. WS 2 , WC, and WC with 1-20 Wt.% Co. for a bi-functional electrode, and Iii. a nonwetting agent containing a polytetrafluoroethylene. A metal current collector is molded into the composite to form a substantially flat hydrophilic layer. A catalyst is preferably incorporated into the composite of a bifunctional electrode to increase cycling life. The hydrophobic layer, comprising a sheet of porous fluorinated ethylene propylene, polypropylene or polytetrafluoroethylene, is laminated to the hydrophilic layer to complete the air electrodes of the invention.

05 Dec 2000TL;DR: In this article, a cold spray process was used to provide a grit blasting effect prior to depositing the material in order to remove contaminants ( 48 ) from the surface of the part.
Abstract: A process ( 30 ) for the repair of a component part ( 36,66 ) incorporating a cold spray process step ( 50 ) for depositing material particles ( 54 ) to fill a discontinuity ( 40 ) in the part surface ( 42 ) or to create a desired surface geometry ( 78 ) on the part ( 66 ). The cold spray process may be controlled to provide a grit blasting effect prior to depositing the material in order to remove contaminants ( 48 ) from the surface of the part. The material deposited ( 56 ) by the cold spray process may form a joint ( 78 ) between an insert ( 72 ) and the part ( 66 ). The process may be used to repair parts made of directionally solidified (DS) or single crystal (SC) base material ( 44 ) without causing a re-crystallization of the base material. The process may further be used to deposit repair material ( 56 ) over a braze material ( 22 ).

31 Jan 1975TL;DR: In this paper, a distribution powerline carrier communication system with inductive couplers and frequency translating repeaters is proposed. But the system is not suitable for wireless communication. And it cannot be used to provide distribution automation functions.
Abstract: A distribution powerline carrier communication system for providing distribution automation functions. The communication system includes a distribution powerline, with inductive couplers and frequency translating repeaters cooperating to circumvent signal obstructions, such as distribution transformers, and to increase the signal strength. The inductive couplers pick up the communication signals without metallic contact to the primary distribution lines, and the repeaters change the frequency band of the communication signals, enabling the amplifier gain of the repeaters to be selected without limitation due to undesirable feedback and oscillation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the transient performance of power systems is studied using large computer programs with representation of individual unit governing systems included, but detailed representation of hydrogovernors is not usually available, but rather, an equivalent transfer function is employed.
Abstract: In studying transient performance of power systems, large computer programs are now used with representation of individual unit governing systems included. Detailed representation of hydrogovernors is not usually available, but, rather, an equivalent transfer function is employed.
