TL;DR: In this paper, the general subject of pitfalls of power quality indices is discussed and suggestions for alleviating these problems are made, as well as suggestions for improving the power acceptability curves.
Abstract: Several indices are in common use for the quantification of electric power quality. These indices are convenient for condensing complex time and frequency domain waveform phenomena into a number. However, a variety of commonly encountered circumstances are not readily accommodated (e.g. quasiperiodic and aperiodic signal components and noninteger multiples of the power frequency). Also, the power acceptability curves have been used as convenient measures of power quality and these curves do not capture three-phase detail of power quality problems. In this paper, the general subject of pitfalls of power quality indices is discussed and suggestions for alleviating these problems are made.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the equity market timing hypothesis of capital structure in major industrialized (G-7) countries and find that leverage of firms is negatively related to the historical market-to-book ratio in all G-7 counties.
Abstract: We investigate the equity market timing hypothesis of capital structure in major industrialized (G-7) countries. As claimed by its proponents, we find that leverage of firms is negatively related to the historical market-to-book ratio in all G-7 counties. However, this negative relationship cannot be attributed to equity market timing. We find no association between equity issues and market-to-book ratios at the time of equity financing decisions by Japanese firms. Firms in all G-7 countries, except Japan, undo the effect of equity issuance and the impact of equity market timing attempts on leverage is short lived. This is inconsistent with the prediction of the equity market timing hypothesis and more in line with dynamic tradeoff model.

TL;DR: The synergistic optimization of both H and OH binding strengths is responsible for the enhancement of HOR activity on BCC-phased PdCu, which could serve as an efficient anode catalyst for anion-exchange membrane fuel cells.
Abstract: Anion-exchange membrane fuel cells hold promise to greatly reduce cost by employing nonprecious metal cathode catalysts. More efficient anode catalysts are needed, however, to improve the sluggish hydrogen oxidation reaction in alkaline electrolytes. We report that BCC-phased PdCu alloy nanoparticles, synthesized via a wet-chemistry method with a critical thermal treatment, exhibit up to 20-fold HOR improvement in both mass and specific activities, compared with the FCC-phased PdCu counterparts. HOR activity of the BCC-phased PdCu is 4 times or 2 times that of Pd/C or Pt/C, respectively, in the same alkaline electrolyte. In situ HE-XRD measurements reveal that the transformation of PdCu crystalline structure favors, at low annealing temperature (<300 °C), the formation of FCC structure. At higher annealing temperatures (300–500 °C), a BCC structure dominates the PdCu NPs. Density functional theory (DFT) computations unravel a similar H binding strength and a much stronger OH binding of the PdCu BCC surfac...
