TL;DR: It is shown that the algorithm converges to the characteristic as the number of observations tend to infinity, for sufficiently smooth characteristics, the rate of convergence is O(n^{-2/5}) in probability.
Abstract: In this note a discrete-time Hammerstein system is identified. The weighting function of the dynamical subsystem is recovered by the correlation method. The main results concern estimation of the nonlinear memoryless subsystem. No conditions concerning functional form of the transform characteristic of the subsystem are made and an algorithm for estimation of the characteristic is presented. The algorithm is a nonparametric kernel estimate of regression functions calculated from dependent data. It is shown that the algorithm converges to the characteristic as the number of observations tend to infinity. For sufficiently smooth characteristics, the rate of convergence is O(n^{-2/5}) in probability.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the manganese-catalyzed Belousov-Zhabotinski reaction in a stirred flow reactor and showed that the waveform for each periodic state consists of an admixture of small and large amplitude oscillations.
Abstract: Our experiments on the manganese‐catalyzed Belousov–Zhabotinskii reaction in a stirred flow reactor reveal many sequences of distinct multipeaked periodic states. In the parameter ranges studied the waveform for each periodic state consists of an admixture of small and large amplitude oscillations. No chaos is discernible, and in many cases the transitions from one periodic state to another occur without any observable hysteresis. Two types of sequences were studied in detail, one with waveforms consisting of concatenations of two basic patterns and another with waveforms consisting of concatenations of three basic patterns. The sequences of states with two patterns are described well by Farey arithmetic, which provides rational approximations of irrational numbers. These states can be characterized by a firing number, the ratio of the number of small amplitude oscillations to the total number of oscillations per period. For our data this ratio is a monotone stepwise‐increasing function of flow rate, and the steps have a fractal dimension. The relationship between the observed sequence and the Farey arithmetic and the observation of a fractal dimension for the steps in the firing number suggest that the states formed by concatenating two patterns can be interpreted in terms of frequency locking on a 2 torus in phase space. The sequences of states with three basic patterns are described by a generalized Farey arithmetic that provides rational approximations for pairs of irrational numbers that are mutually irrational; this suggests that these states can be interpreted in terms of frequency locking on a 3 torus. A piecewise‐linear two‐dimensional map is shown to yield a phase diagram in qualitative accord with the measured phase diagram for these sequences.

Abstract: A generalization of the maximum flow problem in a network with one-sided (upper) and two sided constraints on arc capacities is presented. It allows for violating the capacity constraints in some ranges of tolerance. To solve the generalized problem the apparatus of the fuzzy set theory is used. The efficient algorithms are developed for integer flows.

Abstract: A unified spectral-domain method is developed for accurate evaluation of the parameters of single and coupled microstripline-type structures containing a number of additional conducting strips with induced and/or zero potentials, located on several interfaces of dielectric layers. The Green's function technique in the spectral domain and the superposition principle for solutions of simple Dirichlet's problems are applied for the first step of the analysis in which a set of algebraic equations is to be derived. Extreme values of two variational functional are found for estimation of the upper and lower bounds on the line capacitance. Specific computations, carried out for new coupled coplanar lines with additional tuning conductive septums, illustrate the validity and efficiency of the presented method. It has been shown that equalization of the even- and odd-mode phase velocities can be achieved in this structure.

TL;DR: In this article, the results of dielectric and pyroelectric measurements in (CH3NH3)3Sb2Br9 single crystal were presented, a compound which undergoes two phase transitions at 168 K and at 131 K.
Abstract: In this paper the results of dielectric and pyroelectric measurements in (CH3NH3)3Sb2Br9 single crystal—a compound which undergoes two phase transitions at 168 K and at 131 K—are presented. Pyroelectric measurements evidenced that the crystal becomes polar below 168 K. Low-frequency dielectric measurements showed that the low temperature phase transition is accompanied by relaxational dipolar movement. Two models of the observed phase transitions are proposed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the vectorial optical transfer function (OTF) was proposed for incoherent imaging of extended objects by optical systems which change the state of light polarization, and numerical calculations of the OTF have been performed for a perfect system with a simple polarizing mask in the exit pupil.
Abstract: The problem of incoherent imaging of extended objects by optical systems which change the state of light polarization is discussed in detail. The optical transfer function of the system has been determined for two cases, i.e. for objects which emit similarly and differently polarized light. For the second case it was necessary to introduce the vectorial optical transfer function (OTF). Numerical calculations of the OTF have been performed for a perfect system with a simple polarizing mask in the exit pupil.
