TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate the use of a new saturable absorber material, antimony telluride (Sb2Te3), for efficient mode-locking of an Erbium-doped fiber laser.
Abstract: We demonstrate the usage of a new saturable absorber material – antimony telluride (Sb2Te3) for efficient mode-locking of an Erbium-doped fiber laser. The Sb2Te3 layers were obtained by mechanical exfoliation and transferred onto the fiber connector tip. The all-fiber laser was capable of generating optical solitons with the full width at half maximum of 1.8 nm centered at 1558.6 nm, with 4.75 MHz repetition rate. The pulse energy of the generated 1.8 ps pulses was at the level of 105 pJ.

TL;DR: A brief review of influential energy forecasting papers can be found in this article, which summarizes research trends, discusses importance of reproducible research and points out six valuable open data sources; makes recommendations about publishing high-quality research papers; and offers an outlook into the future of energy forecasting.
Abstract: Forecasting has been an essential part of the power and energy industry. Researchers and practitioners have contributed thousands of papers on forecasting electricity demand and prices, and renewable generation (e.g., wind and solar power). This article offers a brief review of influential energy forecasting papers; summarizes research trends; discusses importance of reproducible research and points out six valuable open data sources; makes recommendations about publishing high-quality research papers; and offers an outlook into the future of energy forecasting.

TL;DR: The covalent nature of interactions within various hydrogen bonded molecular aggregates has been characterized by the two entirely different computational methods: Bader analysis of the electron density and variation-perturbation partitioning of the intermolecular interaction energy.
Abstract: The covalent nature of interactions within various hydrogen bonded molecular aggregates has been characterized by the two entirely different computational methods: Bader analysis of the electron density and variation-perturbation partitioning of the intermolecular interaction energy. Analysis of 34 complexes representing different types of hydrogen bonds indicates that the proton-acceptor distance ∼1.8 A and the ratio of delocalization and electrostatic terms ∼0.45 constitutes approximately a borderline between covalent and noncovalent hydrogen bonds. The latter ratio could be used to characterize quantitatively the degree of the covalent nature of transition state interactions with active site residues, a quantity essential for an enzyme catalytic activity.

TL;DR: TCD pulsatility index can be easily and quickly assessed but is usually misinterpreted as a descriptor of CVR, which presents a complex relationship between PI and multiple haemodynamic variables.
Abstract: Background Transcranial Doppler (TCD) pulsatility index (PI) has traditionally been interpreted as a descriptor of distal cerebrovascular resistance (CVR). We sought to evaluate the relationship between PI and CVR in situations, where CVR increases (mild hypocapnia) and decreases (plateau waves of intracranial pressure—ICP).
