TL;DR: In this paper, a low temperature Cofired Ceramics (LTCC) microfluidic device with an integrated fiber optics and a temperature control system is designed, manufactured and tested.
Abstract: The simple and inexpensive Low Temperature Cofired Ceramics (LTCC) microfluidic device with an integrated fiber optics and a temperature control system is designed, manufactured and tested. As the first step, the test structure with mixing meander, a Y-shape reagents junction and fluid inputs/output is made in order to check mixing effectiveness, leak proofness, and to carry out pressure tests. Standard solutions of creatinine are used for transmittance measurements. The detection system with optical fibers integrated in the LTCC module is evaluated for transmittance and fluorescence measurements by solution of Cu(NH3)42+ and fluorescein, respectively. The constructed structure is found to be a very useful device in chemical analysis.

TL;DR: In this article, a mixture of mixed oxides with perovskite-like structure were prepared by sol-gel citric method and the potassium promoter was introduced into the material during synthesis as well as via post-impregnation, leading to two different catalytic systems: Sr 0.8 K 0.2 TiO 3 and K/SrTiO 3, respectively.
Abstract: SrTiO 3 based mixed oxides with perovskite-like structure were prepared by sol–gel citric method. The potassium promoter (2 mol%) was introduced into the material during the synthesis as well as via post-impregnation, leading to two different catalytic systems: Sr 0.8 K 0.2 TiO 3 , and K/SrTiO 3 , respectively. The obtained materials were characterized by XRD, S BET , cyclohexanol (CHOL) decomposition, XPS and SR-TAD (species resolved thermal alkali desorption), whereas their catalytic activity in soot combustion was examined in laboratory conditions. It has been shown that introduction of potassium substantially promotes the catalysts activity, which can be gauged by the lowering of the soot ignition temperature by 100 °C for K/SrTiO 3 and 120 °C for Sr 0.8 K 0.2 TiO 3 . The effect is discussed in terms of potassium volatility, work function changes and basicity, however the experimental data revealed that the indirect effect is also involved. The most active system was obtained when potassium partially substituted strontium in the perovskite structure. As a consequence oxygen vacancies were created, leading to higher concentration of basic surface oxygen species. Since in the case of Sr 0.8 K 0.2 TiO 3 , K + ions are located in the structural positions, this catalyst apart from the highest activity exhibits also the highest potassium stability.
