TL;DR: The classical theory of elasticity describing three- and lower-dimensional systems is generalized to higher-dimensional spaces and the elastic properties of quasicrystals can be derived from this theory, appropriately.
Abstract: The classical theory of elasticity describing three- and lower-dimensional systems is generalized to higher-dimensional spaces. The elastic properties of quasicrystals can be derived from this theory, appropriately. The practical application is given to pentagonal, octagonal, dodecagonal, and icosahedral quasicrystals. The explicit form is obtained for all elastic equations including Hooke's law, equilibrium equation, etc., in all the cases mentioned above.

TL;DR: Dislocations in an Al62Cu25.5Fe12.5 face-centered icosahedral quasicrystal were studied by means of the contrast experiment and defocus convergent-beam electron diffraction technique to determine the indices of the six-dimensional Burgers vector of the dislocations.
Abstract: Dislocations in an Al62Cu25.5Fe12.5 face-centered icosahedral quasicrystal were studied by means of the contrast experiment and defocus convergent-beam electron diffraction technique. The indices of the six-dimensional Burgers vector of the dislocations were determined to be 1/2[1-11-100]. The projection b(parallel-to) of this six-dimensional Burgers vector in the three-dimensional physical space is exactly parallel to a twofold axis of the icosahedron. The magnitude \b(parallel-to)\ = 0.291 nm was calculated when a = 0.896 nm is taken for the lattice constant of the face-centered icosahedral phase.

TL;DR: A modified nickel hexacyanoferrate film glassy carbon electrode is prepared by the electrochemical deposition technique as mentioned in this paper, which is very stable upon voltammetric scanning in the potential range of 1.0 to −0.5 V and an oxidation peak occurs at 0.35 V (vs. SCE) (1 mol/l NaNO3).
Abstract: A modified nickel hexacyanoferrate film glassy carbon electrode is prepared by the electrochemical deposition technique. The film is very stable upon voltammetric scanning in the potential range of 1.0 to −0.5 V (vs. SCE) and an oxidation peak occurs at 0.35 V (vs. SCE) (1 mol/l NaNO3). The effects of electrolyte, solvent, coexisting ions and other variables on the voltammetric behaviour of the modified film have been studied. The thickness of the resulting film can be controlled by changing the number of voltammetric cycles and the concentrations of nickel(II) and hexacyanoferrate(III) ions. The film shows catalytic activity towards electrooxidation of thiosulfate with a peak potential +0.5 V (K−-containing media). This oxidation potential of thiosulfate on the modified electrode is shifted negatively by about 550 mV as compared to the naked glassy carbon electrode. For practical application, the modified electrode can be used for the determination of thiosulfate in concentrations from 5.0×10−5 to 1.0×10−1 mol/l. This method has been successfully applied to the determination of thiosulfate in photographic waste effluents.

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between the flowability of ground powders and particle shape was investigated, and the effect of the particle shape on the surface roughness of particles was studied.
Abstract: It is empirically known that the flowability of ground powders varies with the types of mill. In this study, five kinds of test powders of the same size made from the same raw material were prepared by five different types of mills and classifiers. The flowability of these powders was measured and the difference between each result identified. Then, the relationship between the flowability of the powder and particle shape was investigated. The circularity, Wadell's working sphericity, the fractal dimension of particle perimeters and the specific surface area ratio of the test powders were measured, and the effect of the particle shape on the flowability index was studied. The result was that the particle shape, especially the surface roughness of particles, had a very great effect on the flowability of the powders produced in different types of mill.

TL;DR: This paper focuses on applying the probabilistic model into the full-text retrieval system and shows how this model can be implemented on a small scale trial basis in indexing retrieval systems.
Abstract: Full-text retrieval has the advantages of searching documents over a wide range of words and accessing original text directly. However, because of the inadequate processing speed and insufficient memory capacity, there has been little work done on full text retrieval systems in the past. With the emergence of very large capacity compact disk ROM (CD ROM), research in full-text retrieval systems is becoming increasingly important. Practical systems based on Boolean retrieval models have appeared. However, in spite of its ability to process structured queries, the Boolean model has been criticised for its inability to provide ranked output as all retrieved documents are considered equally important. Probabilistic models have been proposed by some scholars to solve this problem and have successfully been implemented on a small scale trial basis in indexing retrieval systems. This paper focuses on applying the probabilistic model into the full-text retrieval system. >

TL;DR: In this paper, surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectra of α,β,γ,δ-tetra-(4-trimethyl ammonium phenyl) porphyrin [T(4-TAP)P] were obtained.
Abstract: In the present study, surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectra of α,β,γ,δ-tetra-(4-trimethyl ammonium phenyl) porphyrin [T(4-TAP)P] were obtained. With increasing pH, the relative intensities of the bands at 890 and 1244 cm−1 decreased. These bands were attributed to γ(C-H) and δ(Cm-phenyl), respectively. The bands at 420 and 576 cm−1, which were assigned to γ(phenyl-ring), were enhanced. The molecular symmetry of T(4-TAP)P is discussed in terms of group theory. The bands at 1554 and 1496 cm−1 could be attributed to the vibrational modes of the porphyrin macrocycle; the bands at 1460, 1362, and 1330 cm−1 were assigned to v(C-C) + δ(C-H), v(C-N) + δ(C-H), and v(C-N), respectively. All these bands change in band intensities, positions and widths, with the potential changing from +0.2 V to −0.2 V. It was concluded that the adsorbed porphyrins underwent partial incorporation with Ag from the electrode, and the adsorbate assumed a flat orientation on the silver electrode as well as the Ag colloid surface.

TL;DR: It is proved that the structures with k\ensuremath{\le}5 are quasiperiodic, and the projection method can be applied to deal with the pattern and indexing problem of its x-ray-diffraction spectrum.
Abstract: A one-dimensional k-component Fibonacci structure, with k different intervals, is the natural extension of the standard Fibonacci structure with two intervals. We prove that the structures with k\ensuremath{\le}5 are quasiperiodic, and the projection method can be applied to deal with the pattern and indexing problem of its x-ray-diffraction spectrum. For kg5, the resulting structures are no longer quasiperiodic, but they are still ordering. The analytically obtained results have been compared to experimental results for Ta-Al three-component Fibonacci superlattice structures and to numerical calculations.

TL;DR: The phase recognition mechanism of nine groups of position isomers on four crown ether polysiloxanes, OV-1701 and PEG 20M has been investigated by measuring various thermodynamic parameters as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The phase recognition mechanism of nine groups of position isomers on four crown ether polysiloxanes, OV-1701 and PEG 20M has been investigsated by measuring various thermodynamic parameters. The high selectivity of crown ether polysiloxane phases is due to hydrogen bonding and the extent of fitting between the analytes and the crown ethe cavity. The effects on selectivity of cavity size, heteroatoms and substituent groups on the crown ether are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a large-angle convergent-beam electron diffraction (LACBED) was used to determine dislocations and dislocation pairs in the Al70Co15Ni15 decagonal phase.
Abstract: By means of high-temperature deformation, stacking faults, dislocations and dislocation pairs have been induced abundantly in the Al70Co15Ni15 decagonal phase. Burgers vector b , their directions, their senses and their magnitudes, of dislocations were determined by large-angle convergent-beam electron diffraction (LACBED). Moreover, three kinds of small-angle grain boundaries (SAGBs) were observed in an annealed Al70Co15Ni15 decagonal phase: (1) a tilt boundary consisting of an edge dislocation wall; (2) a twist boundary consisting of parallel screw dislocation pairs; and (3) a small-angle grain boundary consisting of a mixed dislocation network.

Abstract: The dielectric strength of high voltage insulator string drops greatly because of ice coating. The outages on HV transmission lines due to flashover of ice coated insulators are frequently reported in many countries. This paper gives information of investigation in icing on insulators in icing regions of China, and results of artificial ice coating and discharge tests on HV line insulator strings. On the basis of these, some views on the types and forming process of icing on insulators, flashover process and discharge voltage performance of ice coated insulator string are provided.

TL;DR: In this article, the three-gluon condensates at finite temperature were investigated in the framework of the grand partition function for a dilute instanton medium at finite (low) temperature, and found to decrease slowly with the temperature.
Abstract: The three-gluon condensates at finite temperature are found to be of two types. It turns out that these two types of gluon condensates differ only in sign. The value of these condensates is investigated in the framework of the grand partition function for a dilute instanton medium at finite (low) temperature, and found to decrease slowly with the temperature even for very low temperature and vanish nearly atT=240 MeV.
